No soul can be really at rest until it has given up all dependence on everything else and has been forced
to depend on the Lord alone.  As long as our expectation is from other things,
nothing but disappointment awaits us.  Feelings may change,
    and will change with our changing circumstances; doctrines and dogmas may be upset;
    Christian work may come to naught; prayers may seem to lose their fervency;
promises may seem to fail; everything that we have believed in or depended upon
may seem to be swept away, and only God is left, just God, the bare God,
if I may be allowed the expression; simply and only God.

  • I love that quote…truly our rest is found in depending on God alone…may that be true for each one of us today! It reminds me of Romans 6 which I was reading this morning – we have been baptised into his death that we may be raised to live with Him in newness of life. ~Colleen~

  • The song “The Solid Rock” came to my mind as well. “I rest on His unchanging grace.”

  • This is so good! God is working on me right now on the dependence thing. He is to be my only Source and I am to depend solely on Him. He will provide what I need and want. Other people are only the vessels He uses.

    Blessings,

    Chris

  • The song, “You Are My All In All” comes to mind.  This quote is so true and is something God is constantly teaching me.

Thanks for the comment and yes, two places to catch up to!lol  I know, I’m not as faithful on facebook as I am here, but still, it’s yet another avenue to keep in touch with folks.  I haven’t even figured out facebook yet…it has nothing to do with age, believe me!lol  Yes, I did see your request to be my friend and I THINK I responded to it!  But I’ll check and make sure I haven’t missed anything else.  Oh I’m sure you’ll get it!

Thanks so very much for that encouragement!!!  And yes, there is so much truth to the idea that our focus needs to be on HIS love for us.  “Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our Faith…”  Have a great week yourself and thanks for the comment!

  • Your post reminds me of the song that says, “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus name. On Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.”

  • Hi!! I would say that this post reminds me I need to pray more often than just when I remember to, as well as to read the Bible more, basically I felt convicted :( . But it’s the kind of kick in the rear I needed! :giggle::goodjob: Have a super day!

  • Several verses come to mind!

Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth…..

Seek ye first the kingdom of God…..

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths!

    Very good post! :sunny:

  • Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness , and all these things will be given to you as well.

Hope you are having a good week!

  • :heartbeat: My declaration…The Solid Rock – Edward Mote – “My hope is built on nothing less . . .than Jesus blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame . . . But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ the solid rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand . . . All other ground is sinking sand. When darkness seems to hide his face . . . I rest on his unchanging grace; in every high and stormy gale . . . My anchor holds within the vale.  His oath, His covenant, His blood . . . Support me in the whelming flood; when all around my soul gives way . . .He then is all my hope and stay.  When He shall come with trumpet sound . . . Oh, may I then in Him be found; dressed in His righteousness alone . . . Faultless to stand before the throne.  On Christ, the solid rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand . . . All other ground is sinking sand.”  AMEN!! :heartbeat: Have a beautiful day, Deborah! ~Carolyn

  • :heartbeat:Good Morning! It made me think of the Tenth Commandment! Thy shall not covet!…….You will never find contentment in wanting more or in things, But just in God you have everything!………..Hope you have a Wonderful day!………..In Christ’s Love……..Monic:wave:

quote and verse

Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.
- Andrew Murray -

God often comes to us,
not in dramatic and the spectacular,
but in quiet, unexpected ways ...
In a still, small voice,
a gentle whisper,
God makes known His love.

In quietness and trust
is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15

Pleasure, possessions, power, and privilege are ultimately worthless in comparison to the indescribable
joy of knowing GOD!!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
Psalm 32:8
