    Okay, here is where I need peace!  Now, I’m not too happy about him being alone out there, but there is absolutely nothing I can do about it…other than pray, pray, pray!!  So, it’s here that I need some much needed encouragement, and prayers for Ian!  I’ve spoken to him twice, and he seems okay, but I’m sure it’s a bit different for him!  It’s late, I’ve had a long weekend, I’m tired, fuzzy brain, and now … just a little bit concerned for him!  By the time some of you read this he’ll, most likely, be in San Jose.  So as soon as I get more info, I’ll post an update!  Now if any are interested, they are posting pictures from time to time, and journaling their trip at Tim’s site here on Xanga:  timporter.  You all have a blessed Monday, and I’ll update as soon as I know more, and, Ill fill you in on other happenings, as well!

    Hugs,

    ~ Saturday ~ Picture Problems!!!
    *** OOPS!!!…some are saying pictures aren’t showing up.. …I’m so sorry!!
    I’m working on it now…if they don’t show up at my first try, I’ll work on it when I get home tonight, and then maybe you can see our “fuzzy” faces!!

    ~ Friday ~
    I’ve been loving all your comments, prayers, and encouragement!!  So here’s a little..well not so little, update for ya!!
    I had started writing this the day before Ian left, so I’m just using it to recap:

    ~ Wednesday ~
    Okay…things are in major motion around here!  We had a couple of emergencies that came up as we’ve been trying to get Ian ready to fly away!  Whew…the things you have to go through to pack!  Anyway, it’s coming together, and things are seeming a bit calmer….myself included!  I really appreciate all of your thoughts, and prayers!  Last night we had a “mom~son” night out.  We did some shopping for shorts, and polo shirts, shoes, and extra little odds and ends.  We also had dinner at Chili’s together!  When we were at the mall, I saw this booth that said Portrait Studio.  It’s where they snap about 4 pictures of you, then you make a choice as to the pose, and whether you want black & white, or color…{the color was $2.00 extra, and Ian wanted B&W…so we opted for that…I liked the color, but it was Ian’s night!}  Well, we both squeezed into the booth, seriously, it seemed like about a 2×2 area, and Ian is just a lit-tle bit bigger than me, lol!!, so, … we posed {couldn’t do much posing in that space!!} … we smiled … they snapped … we chose … then this hand starts drawing our picture on the screen in front of us … it was kinda neat!  He — aka. the machine, even held a conversation with us!  Well, sorta….we weren’t talking back!!  He would say things like, “this is lookin’ good”, or “are you sure you’ve never modeled before?”, “just a few more minutes”, and “almost done now”!  Then it would draw mistakes in the picture that were funny, and he’d say, “oops”, or “sorry about that”, and the eraser would appear, and fix the blunder!  At one point Ian had bangs, and I had a mustache … boy, was that ever attractive!! Lol!!  We had fun doing it …so, when he gets home we’re going to go for the color version, and maybe some funny faces!  Photo booths, hmmm, all I remember are the ones that would snap the pictures, then they would come out in a long strip of 4 black and whites.  I still have a couple of those around here!  Those were the days!  Times change, don’t they?!!  So, anyway, here is the finished product of our “Mom & Son” portrait!  A little off center, but like I said, he took up most of the space, but that’s so okay….it was Ian’s day!!

    Mom & Son 4-10-07

    The night before Ian, and Tim, flew away, we got together with Tim’s family for dinner at Cracker Barrel!  Yum, Yum!  We spent 2 hours just talking, laughing, and loving our boys!  I am so sorry these pictures aren’t very good, but I still wanted to share! The camera wasn’t cooperating so they didn’t come out too well….like I said, I’m working at getting a new camera, and I’ll get a better one!  So for now, you got to focus a little bit to see below, from left to right….
    Hannah, Ian, me–(bad hair day!), my dear hubby, Bob, (with the hat), Little Johnny, Linda, Tim, & Elizabeth!  We’ve known Bob since before my hubby and I got married, so Ian has know them all of his life!  We love this family!  We’ve all grown up together, and they are a faithful testimony to what true giving means!

    After dinner, we brought Tim home with us, so we could just take them to the airport from our house, since we were closer, and the flight was leaving at 5:49AM the next morning!  Well, we didn’t get to bed until 1:30AM … we were up at 3:30AM … arrived at the airport at 4:45AM … had a bite of breakfast, McDonald’s style, and then it was off into the wild blue yonder!  They did just fine, only very tired … and once Ian called me at his layover, I was feeling better!  They made it to Raleigh, and are now busy at work!  I’m so thankful for cell phones…never thought I’d say that!!  They’re usually a nuisance, but they do come in handy with things like this!

    Well, as I’ve said, Tim and Ian have know each other forever, so I have to share a couple of pictures of them through the years! I have so many more, but this’ll do for now!  This first one was taken in the summer of 1989.  We took the boys to our local fire station, and they had a lot of fun seeing those big fire engines, and wearing those official helmets!  It was too big for Timmy’s little head. At one point I think he was a little in–TIMMMY–dated by the biggness of everything!!  I didn’t post that picture!!  And, as you’ll see Ian towers over Timmy … even then!

    This second one was taken in 1994, on Timmy’s birthday…

    And today….
    This was taken at our family dinner Wednesday night.

    So now….let’s compare….
    My, how we change in just a few years!
    How many of us can say that we have
    pictures with our best friends like this?!!
    They’re going to do mighty things for God!!
    Love these guys!!

    Well, I’ll keep you all posted as to how things are going with them!
    I want to thank those that sent your sweet prayers and encouragement…
    you can’t even begin to know how much it has blessed me!

    Yes, I’m human, and it has been overwhelming to say the least, but God is so faithful!  And you’ve been so understanding!  It feels good to be here with you all!  So here’s a big cyber hug in return!!!
    Now, I’m off to an antique/craft show in the morning, so I need to get some rest!
    But I’ll be around to visit … time permitting,
    tomorrow evening, and Sunday evening …
    but Monday, absolutely, positively, for sure, for sure!!
    I pray you all have a beautiful weekend, and be blessed in the Lord!

    Love & hugs,

    ~ Walking In The Midst of the Overwhelming ~

    Lord, help me to recognize anything that seems overwhelming
    to me as a sign that I need to immediately draw close to You and pray.
    Give me a clear sense of what is going on and show me exactly how to pray about it.
    I know that Your perfect love will take away all my fear.
    Perfect me in Your love so that I don’t fall victim to the torment that fear can bring.
    Give me a deeper sense of Your presence,
    for I know that Your presence is far greater than anything that overwhelms me!
    ~~~~~~  ~~~~~~
    “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
    From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee,
    when my heart is overwhelmed:
    lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
  • Just time for a little note……all the pictures open for me except picture #5, counting from the top down…….interesting update!  God will take care of him…..you can count on it!  Gwen
  • Wow what a crazy flight schedule….:eek:
    Blessings to you and yours
  • So glad he’s doing well on his trip, I’m sure he’ll make his connecting flight with no problems. I’m praying for his safe flight and arrival to his next destination. I’m glad you had a good weekend and I will continue to pray for your constant peace of mind concerning Ian. Have a fantastic day!:sunny:
  • Hi Deborah, I wanted to ask you if this is the Watoto childrens choir he is filming? I ask because they weill be coming to our church this Wednesday here in Tucson…I am looking forward to seeing them.
  • Hey friend….got your xanga message.  I’m glad you got my lil card.  I didn’t get the other envelope mailed.  Will do it today since I just had a crazy week and a great weekend with Syl (syl2006) and her friend, Apple (jonagold).  It was a good retreat.  Glad to have had Syl and Apple here with me for three days.  Also, glad all the planning is over.  Now on to the next task.  I am glad your son made it to his destination.  Love the picture you posted that you had taken at one of those portrait machines.  Sounds like fun!  I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for one of those.  I think I would have a hard time not worrying about one of my boys “taking flight” and “spreading wings” to a city far away where I couldn’t see them and would worry if they were ok, etc.  I think every mother would feel that and its nothing to worry or feel bad about.  You’re a mom and will always be a mom and have mom feelings no matter how old your son gets or what direction his life goes!  Love you girl!!!  Happy Heart Beat Monday!!!!! Did you have a show this weekend?  YOu mentioned bubbles to me…….I think my brain is tired……you sell bubbles?  **gigglin*
  • :heartbeat:Praying for all to work out! This will be a lesson learned not to over-sleep and miss your fight!!:nono:……….But keep the Faith , God will bring them home safe and sound!!…..(((Hugs)))……In Christ’s love……….Monic:heartbeat:
  • RYC: We did go to language school for two years. I guess we are just rejects! LOL! People say Danish is a very difficult language, and it seems to be harder for me to learn things now that I am over 50. When I was young, it was much easier to memorize, but now, my brain is like Teflon! Actually, I understand quite a bit, and I can carry on a conversation easily. It is the more techinical talking (like when you visit the doctor) that I struggle with because I just don’t have the right vocabulary words.
  • Hey there D!  On a typical day, i have my sound off, but I have in on this afternoon while i sit outside.  The music you have here is AWESOME!!  Love it.
    Great pix too!!
    Blessings
  • :wave:Hi Deborah!
    What a great update!  Sorry I haven’t been around.  The pics are great I can’t see some of them either)  The one of you and your son that is b&w is great.  I have some like that, that we got at the mall.  I like the way they look!  I got one of 3 of my kids (the 4th wasn’t around yet) it was hard getting all 3 heads in the shot lol….I guess I need to go back now and try to squeeze in all 4 heads!  That ought to be a hoot!  Well I hope you have a blessed weekend.  :wave:
    I am so sorry I wasn’t here for you, it’s looks and sounds as though all was going well.
    I am sending you back a huge cyber hug from me all the way from north Ga. I hope you
    are doing good this weekend. I am on here on a Sat. which is totally unusual. I am about
    to shut down for the day though. I have plenty to get done around here…ugh!
  • :sunny:  Hi Deborah !  I can  only see some of your but another are not opening up for me !   :lookaround:
    May God bless you ,…Tip
  • How wonderful to have a life-long friend like your son does! Isn’t it also so exciting to see your kids serving God? When I hear about people like your son, I am so blessed! Our youngest daughter also has such a heart for God. When we moved to Denmark, she moved with us. She was 17 at the time and I homeschooled her through her senior year in highschool. After that, she attended one year of a Bible School here, and then felt like God has something else for her to do.  As hard as it is having both my girls living so far away, I am thrilled that they are following the call of God on their lives. Like you, my kids and I aere such good friends, and it makes me miss them on not just the mother/daughter level, but also the friend level.  We are hoping and praying for a summer reunion! It’s been nearly 3 years since we have all been together as a family.  May God give you grace and wisdom to open your arms so your son can soar, and comfort for the times you miss him.
  • All the photos are not opening up for me………but enough to “get the picture” :)   My best friend from first grade is still one of my closest friends.  She has been a missionary for 29 years, so we only actually SEE each other every 4 years or so, when she is home on furlough, but whenever we get together it’s like we’ve never been apart…….The mother-son photo is so cute and sounds like so much fun to do.  I am also very fearful of flying, so I understand your feelings.  It is hard not to hold your kids back when you feel like that! (at least it is for me….) but…….they have all done a lot of flying (from several states away to the other side of the world….) while I keep my feet planted firmly on the earth :)   God will take care of Tim and Ian.
    I thought I had a “soap story” to tell you but I guess I don’t!  When I was growing up my mom was (still is, in fact!) very interested in history, especially during the pioneer days.  We would often try some task the way the pioneers did it, or the way the Native American’s did it……and I couldn’t remember if we had actually made soap (with lye from ashes, lard from our own butchering, etc) or if we had only talked about it……..I talked to my mom today and she told me we had only talked about it.  She said it was when we had found clay on our farm, brought a bucket of it home, formed cups and bowls, and fired them in a fire pit we dug in the back yard that we had seriously considered making soap the real old fashioned way, but for whatever reason, we never did try it…….
    It’s interesting to see you posted on April 14th and I am answering on April 13th :)   I think you said you are from Indiana?  My dad’s family is all from Indiana.  He grew up in Alexandria.
    Hope your craft fair is successful.  Gwen
Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.
God often comes to us,
but in quiet, unexpected ways ...
a gentle whisper,
God makes known His love.
In quietness and trust
is your strength.
