Remembering September 11th
I wanted to share some things I found with you on this day of rememberance…
below that is my original post.
Words seem so inadequate at a time like this. BUT let us all
remember at a time like September 11th this year no words will ever be enough so
just try to give someone a hug or a smile. Let them know you love them and care
for them. And today, listen to the Lord’s directing and leading
and let Him give you the words IF they are needed to comfort them.
He cares so much for all of us and wants to comfort us
in only the way that He can by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Bible Verses of Comfort:“The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble;
and he knoweth them that trust in Him.”
~Nahum 1:7~“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are
asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.”
~1 Thessalonians 4:13~“Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together:
for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them,
and make them rejoice from their sorrow.”
~Jeremiah 31:13~“But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee,
O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name;
thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee;
and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest
through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither
shall the flame kindle upon thee.”
~Isaiah 43:1-2~Quotes of Comfort:
“Grief is a process by which we are allowed to value the loss, and be healed of
the loss, so that our life can go on. Just as the body
knows how to heal a cut, so the spirit uses the process of grief to heal
the injured parts of our soul. It is as grief is the scab that permits the healing.”
-Source: Reverend Leigh Early quoted in the book
Strength for Today by Sharon Broyles from the November 11th Devotional“The melody that the loved one played upon the piano of your life will never by played quite that way again,
but we must not close the keyboard and allow the instrument to gather dust. |
We must seek out other artists of the spirit,
new friends that will gradually will help us to find the road to life again,
who will walk that road with us.”
-Source: Rabbi Joshua Liebman from “Peace of Mind” and
mentioned in the book “Good Grief” by Granger E. WestbergPrayer of Comfort:
“Lord, the storms come, and we cry out in our agony that
life is unfair. We doubt your love and question your goodness.
And the pain often blinds us to the rainbows of your presence. The fear that life will never be good again keeps us
clinging to the shreds of what we had instead of allowing
you to build a new and deeper life out of our brokenness.Help us, Father, to remember these darks days the
things we know to be true of you, the things that seem
so easy to believe when life feels good.Help us to cling tenaciously, to the promises that your
love is unfailing, your strength is made known in our
weakness, and you will never leave us or forsake us.Give us the grace to offer up to you our tear-stained
praises for being our anchor in the storm.
Amen”
PART II ~ WEEKEND UPDATEThis is a man we met at the Heartnut Festival who was more than
willing to share a bit of his life with us … I loved photographing him!
He didn’t mind one bit! I was glad!
Well, how was your weekend, and Monday! I sure hope all you Grandparent’s out there had a wonderful Sunday! I do look forward to the day when I’ll be a ‘Mamaw”! On Saturday, we did get to go to the Heartnut Festival, but due to the storm that came up, we were only there for about an hour, and just missed the ‘French and Indian War’! My husband had the prison ministry Saturday night, and so much good is coming out of this for the guys that are in there … the ones who have come to know the LORD, may be behind prison walls, but in their hearts they are truly free! My hubby is planning to start a Xanga soon, so he’ll be sharing things from his heart, and about the ministry on his site! I love it when the husbands get involved on here!
We also set up at a small coin show this weekend, for a few hours. It was fairly profitable … enough to fix the car!! Although, the car was faithful to us all weekend … started every time … so we’re not sure what is wrong with it, if anything! My vacuum cleaner also decided to take a vacation, but my dear sister, who can do just about anything, fixed it for me! She is such a special blessing in my life! VCs are expensive these days … at least for a good one, anyway! So, do any of you have a favorite brand that you use … just for future reference, if someday it can’t be fixed! I’ve been through a few over the years, and personally, I’d love to go back to hardwood floors, and a dust mop!! The one I have now is an older model Dirt Devil … with swivel wheels! Yippee!!) Some have those Swiffer’s out there, well, now my trusted Double ‘D’ Swiveler is on the job again…for now anyway! But I am thankful that she fixed it for me … I don’t like being without a VC, either! Hey, those dust bunnies were thinkin’ they were in the free and clear …. no way!! Hmmm, maybe my sis could take a look at our car and figure out what is wrong with it!! I bet she could too!
Have a great day, and I’ll post the last 3 studies from Psalm 23 beginning tonight. Finally, I wanted to share this photo slide with you from our trip to the Heartnut Festival. The crowds were way down, and we did miss the ‘battle’, but it’s interesting to see how they lived back then … the sites and sounds of a reinactment camp … the smell of the wood smoke … the leaves crunching underfoot … there’s nothing like it! They said on the weather today, that by the end of the week we may see lows in the 40′s during the night, and daytime highs in the 60′s! Autumn is upon us! They also had an area for children, and of course the infamous elephant ear wagon … and he actually passed it up this time! I’m glad … it’s healthier not having it! I had bought a book on Friday called, “The Seven Pillars of Health” — by Don Colbert, MD.. It is an excellent book on how to get started on a healthier lifestyle! An easy read! At the festival, I also bought a pink hooded sweatshirt with the Colts logo on it … couldn’t resist! Besides, I love wearing sweatshirts in the fall and winter! I couldn’t get too many photos, due to the storm that came in, and being on Slide, they tend to be a little blurry, but here are a few of some of the camp sites, and people in costume that I caught at the festival …Have a blessed Tuesday!
Hugs,
~ Deborah <><Another photo contest is going on over at iliveinmycamera.
The theme for this week … ‘CAMERAS’.
I have one entered, so go vote for your favorite!
Also, over on Betsaflygallery, where the theme for the week is ‘STORMS’,
you’ll find some terrific photos … I’ve also posted one there as well …
hope you all have a wonderful day!

Thanks for stopping by on my birthday !!! Everyone made the day a great one !
I’m Mae’s sister-in-law who’s the Civil War reenactor
) It was fun looking at your slide show. Revolutionary War and French and Indian is also very interesting. There’s a big Rev War reenactment every year in the town where Mae is from. Elmira, NY.
Where were your pictures taken ?
This is a great post, Deborah..so touching and caring…thanks for sharing
I use an Oreck vacuum….love it….came with a free iron and hand held. It is only 8 lbs so it moves so easily.
I was going to get a Dyson animal but it was WAY out of my price range…..
:sunny:Deb your fast at top 10……….my puter is acting up!
Hope you have a great Thursday!……….. :heartbeat:Linda
Great post! and I absolutely loved, loved, loved the slide show. I love the Indians, the out doorsey, camping, tent, cooking over a fire thing….loved the flowers….. Oh, did I mention I loved the slide show???
:goodjob: I enjoyed the slide show and your post. Thanks for sharing it all with us!
God bless
You have an awesome tribute!
And what a fun weekend! Sorry you got rained out!
Hello, thank you so much for the shout out.
For some reason, all this week, I have been waking up at 3am and not able to go back to sleep, so here I am.
We had a sexually harassment meeting this morning, during the time of remembering 9-11. Needless to say I wasn’t happy. I wanted to listen to the radio or watch a little TV. I wrote the post for just that reason, it seems like it doesn’t matter anymore.
Like to slide show! It looks like you had a great time. There is a big festival around here this weekend, Lanesville Heritage Days. There is usually a tractor show, fiddle contest, craft booths and lots of food. My friends mother has a both, she makes loom weaved rugs. She takes the loom with her and sits there all day making them. She has won several blue ribbons for her work. It is sad though, she has 3 boys that have never married, nor taken up her art.
I can’t wait for the festival in a few weeks! My son, Evan, will be with me. I am so excited!
Talk to you soon,
Deanna
Oh… Phooey, … my “code” did not transfer from the comment box!! Please erase that mess up there! I don’t know what happened…hmm.. I’ll try to figure it out.
Bee
Sorry Deborah
What a fun weekend and cool pictures!!
Here is the side bar code I said I would share. You have to have Xanga Premium to use it. You can just replace your information in the spots where I have all caps and cut and paste this in your “custom module” section… it should work, (unless there is something I don’t know about… which is highly possible. lol :-p)
Anyway, Here is the code for the Title of your links
NAME GOES HERE
Here is the code for the link itself,(make sure and use the link that you get from the post after you have clicked comments, that way you get that individual day and not the link to you whole blog.)
NAME OF YOUR POST
Hope this helps! Blessings, Bee
P.S. Hey someone else jump in here if I told her wrong, or you have a better way!
:sunny:Hi Deborah,
So glad you had a prosperous weekend. I hate it when something brakes down…my sis used to could fix anything too. I miss her so much. We broke down and bought a Dyson Vacuum yes it’s expensive we still owe $200.00 on it but wow we love it! It is the animal one which means it picks up all those little Max hairs that are all over the house now…lols…but we sure love that little guy! I will say that I do recommend it, it does a fantastic job. Bob has been so busy working double shifts tomorrow will be his third stright double gosh it sure does wear him out. But it’s so hard for him to refuse the work because the money is so good. It helped us to buy the new car. But I surely do worry about him. He has felt somewhat better but he isn’t getting enough rest. I pray that he gets some relief soon. No, I probably will not post my picture…it’s not good. I hate that I am not photogenic. I may post some of the other ones though. You look great in pictures…i’ve seen some of yours. I am glad that we are getting some relief in the weather right now it’s 72 degrees and has felt good most of the day, and we actually got some rain, not a lot but any amount is good right? Yes, I am glad I put up fall stuff to and I have been doing that around my house as well. I have decorated my porch and some in my yard…people around here know that I am a home body and they probably think I have to much time on my hands as I decorate quite often…who cares! It’s my house and I sure hope that my new birdbath stays around a while…lols. About my fall smilies it’s the same one I had from last year I just copied and saved the file. All you have to do is save some fall emoicons and place them in your smiley code as long as you save them in your photos they will work. Just go into your codes and replace them. I would be glad to help you if you need me to. I know that you do a pretty job with your site so you probably already know how. I am just passing time waiting on Bob to get home, I will then have to shut down and get ready for bed…I hope he will be ready to go to bed when he gets home…it’s so hard for him to whind down then he only gets around 4 hours of sleep. Ok, so I have made this a very long comment…sorry…I will stop for now and hopefully get back on tomorrow and until then I pray you have a blessed night and that the rest of the week will be just as blessed…HuGs…Linda
What a nice weekend you had. Thanks for the thoughtful scriptures and things to remember for 9/11. It is always a sobering day.
What a good post on helping us remember and be comforted. Thanks Deborah!!:)
Isn’t Xanga quirky like that sometimes? It’s too bad it was stormy, but it looks like you got quite a few good pictures in spite of it. I’m looking forward to seeing Lewis’s new site. I love the daisies!
There is so much in this post I just don’t know what to comment on!
Glad your vacuum is fixed. I would hate being without mine with all the dog hair around here.
That festival looks so interesting. It looks like something my dad took my brother and I to every year. We loved it.
I like the slide show. Great you made enough $ to fix the car!
It’s early evening here, and I am just getting around to visit some. We have a busy day today, and the rest of the week will be even more crazy. I am glad your vaccuum is working again.
I wonder if your car problem could be the fuel filter? Just a guess! LOL! Ours is sounding kind of loud because our muffler fell off Friday! The Heartnut Festival looks like fun. No elephant ears????
My bother in law is really into the whole re-enactment scene. He and my sister in law do Civl War re-enacting.
Grieving is a part of life, isn’t it. If you haven’t grieved, you haven’t lived yet. I guess one of the biggest shockers I had when one of my best friends was killed in an accident … Life goes on. It doesn’t stop. It seemed to me like the whole world should have stopped, but it doesn’t.
Have a good day.
:sunny:Neat slide show! Reminds me of the Renaissance Festival! Costumes and the enviorment and everyone in Character……….Hope you have a Blessed Day!…Jess went to church on Sunday and talked w/ Pastor Dave for awhile so continue to pray for God’s unfailing love! And Philip my oldest called me from Germany and things are going well for him, too!…………..Praying for Ian!
