    ~ Overcoming Obstacles ~

    Have you ever seen the sea flee?

    Have you ever seen the mountains skip like rams, or the hills run like lambs?

    That’s the vivid description the psalmist gives of the Exodus of Israel from Egypt.

    “The sea saw it and fled; Jordan turned back.
    The mountains skipped like rams, the little hills like lambs….
    Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,
    who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of waters”  -Psalm 114:1-8.

    The psalmist mentions the time God opened the Red Sea and the Israelites walked across on dry land.  He talks about when the nation entered the Promised Land over the dry bed of the Jordan River.  Then he refers to their experience in the wilderness, when they were thirsty and God turned the rock into a pool of water.  What are we to learn from all of these experiences?  God helps us in the obstacles of life.  When you turn your obstacles over to the Lord, He acts.

    What will He do?

    MLeaf2Sometimes He overcomes the obstacles.
    God is with us in the hopeless places.
    How hopeless the Israelites were at the Red Sea!
    The enemy soldiers were behind them;
    the wilderness was around them;
    the sea was in front of them.
    But God opened a way to escape.

    MLeaf2Sometimes God removes the obstacles — the “hills” and the “mountains.”
    He just makes them skip and run away like animals.

    MLeaf2Sometimes He makes the mountains a way for us to escape.
    “I will make each of My mountains a road,
    And My highways shall be elevated”.  – Isaiah 49:11

    MLeaf2Sometimes He also can turn the obstacles into blessings.
    He “turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of waters.” (v. 8).
    If God doesn’t overcome or remove your obstacle, let Him turn it into a blessing.
    Trust God with your obstacles.  He can help you in …

    … the hopeless places,
    … the high places
    … and the hard places.

     MLeaf2Dear Lord,
    When all is darkness and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
    give us the sense of Your presence, Your love, and Your strength.
    Help us to have perfect trust in Your protecting love and strengthening power,
    so that nothing may frighten or worry us, for, living close to You, we shall see Your hand,
    Your purpose, Your will through all things, in Jesus Precious Name, - Amen

    The light of God surrounds me;
    The love of God enfolds me;
    The power of God protects me;
    The presence of God watches over me;
    Where ever I am God is.

  • I’m trying to think of obstacles as opportunities to learn something God needs to teach me.  I wish that I was more thankful for them though.

  • Hi!  I edited my page to clarify about the puffed cheeks on trumpet players. :rolleyes:

    I wanted to tell you also I have followed Andrew Peterson ever since he got started back in about ’98.  I heard him sing “Three Days Before Autumn” which he wrote about Rich’s death, when he was one of the openers for Caedmons Call.  That song broke my heart!  Still does!  So I try to see him whenever he is nearby, and he has done several concerts at a little church near our house so that has been cool.  He has a great Myspace where he writes cute limericks.  Sometime I will show you a picture of me and Andy from a concert.  He is really a sweetie and a very good, deep writer. I’m glad you’ve heard him too!

  • What a beautiful message here today, Deborah! Will be taking more time to read more from your site, as soon as I finish my housework! Love ya lots, and may the Lord bless you abundantly today! ((((HUGS))))

  • Wonderful thoughts here, Deborah! I am reminded of that great song: “He will make a way where there seems to be no way. He works in ways we cannot see. He will make a way for me.” Oh! And remember that old one “My Lord knows the way through the wilderness. All I have to do is follow.”?  He is a WAYMAKER! The more I learn to trust Him, the more I see how trustworthy He is! Blessings on your day. :heartbeat:

quote and verse

Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.
- Andrew Murray -

God often comes to us,
not in dramatic and the spectacular,
but in quiet, unexpected ways ...
In a still, small voice,
a gentle whisper,
God makes known His love.

In quietness and trust
is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15

Pleasure, possessions, power, and privilege are ultimately worthless in comparison to the indescribable
joy of knowing GOD!!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
Psalm 32:8
