The weekend is over and it’s now the ‘Day After’!  So how was everyone’s Christmas?  Ours was lovely!  Since Ian wasn’t home, and our family gathering was postponed until next Saturday, Lewis and I spent the day home here, reading, cooking, eating, relaxing … just having a great day together!  We had thought about visiting my brother and his family, but he was sick, so things were postponed there as well.  We also had an invite to go to his sister’s house, but since we’ll be going there next week, we just opted to stay home for the day.  We had sunshine and about 44* today, so we didn’t have that white Christmas we so hoped for!

Well, we had to eat, so for Christmas dinner, we decided on an English roast with red potatoes, carrots, and sweet onions all cooked up nice and tender in my special gravy.  We had buttered herbed noodles on the side, with brussel sprouts cooked in a buttery herbed chicken broth … now who doesn’t like brussel sprouts?!!  Even my son liked those when he was younger … that’s sort of unusual for a child to eat a brussel sprout, but he sure enough did!  He called us a couple of times today.  He had plans at three different places and had a wonderful day, although he is fighting a cold with a cough.  As a mom, it’s hard not being there to give him what he needs to feel better …  hey, that was my job for all those years … and moms care about those things, no matter how old our children get!

So, tell me about your Christmas day … share a highlight or a special blessing you received … and now that Christmas is over, how long do you leave up your decorations, that is, if you have them up this year?  We didn’t due to our upcoming move … but we got a lot of beautiful Christmas cards … thanks to many of you out there in Xangaland!  Those were so fun to receive from you!  Be blessed, and have a great Wednesday, everyone!

    Hugs,
    ~ Deborah <><

    CRAFTED BY A MASTER’S HAND
    ~ T. Huff

Have you ever stopped and spent time watching the actual process of glassblowing?  It is an awesome procedure and must be done by a master craftsman—one who is talented, patient, skilled, and willing to wait for that perfect shape to come out of the fire.

Glassblowing is defined as the process of forming glass into useful shapes while the glass is in a molten, semi-liquid state.  Traditionally, glass was made from raw materials, such as sand, limestone, and other compounds, and then melted in the furnace.  Glassblowing may involve several trips to the furnace and various special tools.  It takes much practice and work to come out with the beautiful, marketable pieces that we admire and buy today.

Jesus, the master craftsman, picks us up as raw material, with nothing much to be proud of.  He takes us and begins to apply the heat that is needed to make us the best and most beautiful that we can be.  Do we always like it when the heat is applied?  That would be a great, big resounding “No!”, but to burn out all the impurities we must submit and become pliable.  Oh, to be molded by His hands and come out that perfect specimen that He desires and can use!

Glass is fragile, and so are we at different times during our Christian walk, in each different season of our lives.  As did the psalmist, we may have to pray, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalms 51:10).  Then Jesus throws us right back in the fire to remold, to remake, and to reshape.  Sometimes we put up a fight, and sometimes we are willing to be remade, but, when He says it is time to come out of the fire, we are formed into His shape and we see through His eyes—we finally understand.  We are His special children and He loves us whatever place we are in.

When God works in us, the will, being changed and sweetly breathed upon by the Spirit of God,
desire and acts, not from compulsion, but responsively.
    ~ Martin Luther

  • Nice pictures of you guys!  I’m glad you shared pics of the new place too. It looks wonderful! Love the porch with that view!

  • Glad you had a nice relaxing Christmas Day!
I’m better, but both boys are still a little under the weather. Dad  and Mom both have  it  now too.  :lookaround:

We had snow today though!   And it’s suppose to snow again tonight!  It’s really foggy.   We were going  to do Christmas with my brother tonight, but since weare all sick, they didn’t want to  come take a chance at getting it too! I don’t blame them!

Blessings to you and yours this Precious Christmas season!

    Love ya!

  • Mmm… That food sounds great! And glad to hear Ian will be back before too long. We woke up to snow on Christmas morning! We hadn’t heard the forcast and were nicely surprised with a few inches that fell all day long! We had a relaxing day with just us. We’d gotten together with Aaron’s parents Christmas eve. One of the best things for me was seeing Josiah’s great expressions. :fun:

  • Hi Sweet Deborah

We had a nice CHRISTmas eve…CHRISTmas day was spent with my unbelieving family…..’nuff said……it was not blessed at all.

  • Hey there!  Our Christmas was very special    We didn’t have a white one either.  Although we are having Christmas at my parents tomorrow so I still have hope that it will snow tonight.  I hope to be around more after the new year.  I know I have been a real slacker lately lol

Take care sweet lady.  See ya around soon.

  • I am enjoying my laptop. Mine is called a IBM Think Pad! I like not having to share the computer. Now I will have more time to write and to visit. The only thing is you only have about an hour on the battery when you are not pluged in. But you can plug it in anywhere you want to. :) We didn’t have a big dinner as we had a big breakfast and then in the afternoon we even took a nap. But it was a nice Christmas. We had our kids over on Christmas eve for a nice dinner and they opened one gift. Mine was the laptop! God bless your weekend! :heartbeat:Sharon

Oh mine was not very expensive as it is a referbished one.(how ever you spell that word)but works very well and looks like new.

  • :sunny:Im so glad to hear you had such a nice Day:sunny: Mine was amazing! We had so much fun, opening presents and laughing so much. we played games and made some great memories. I was suprised by a couple friends giving me such nice gifts…I was spoiled this year God was so good to me. As for what do I do with my dcorations? Its always different every year. but I try to get it all down as soon as possible. So most likely tomorrow I will be taking all mine down and get ready for New Years Eve.

  • Thanks for the encouraging post.:)

  • Yes you caught me working on my site. I really don’t want to do a winter theme.  I am tired of being cold aready and don’t want to look at anything cold.  I wanted a victorian look so been trying different things for a header, still not there yet. There just doesn’t seem to be a lot of choices if it isn’t country. So I am off to bed for now.  God bless your day tomorrow dear friend.   :heartbeat:Sharon

Oh, do you remember how to get the code to make each side the same color font?  Is that what you mean?

  • :heartbeat:It was a great day, wasn’t it?  What a blessing… and that meal is making my mouth water! ha!

You have a wonderful day and I will talk to ya soon!

    Love, Connie

  • Deborah,

Ian is on the prayer list.

Sara didn’t make it home for Christmas either. Lord willing, she will be home in January.

    God bless you sweetie.

    Cynthia

  • Sorry I haven’t been around much, I’ve been a serious Xanga slacker for the most part. I hope to get back on the band wagon normally as I used to soon. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Have a great day today!

  • Merry Christmas!!!

    Nice decorating!!

    Love You!!

    Ian

  • Your days sounded wonderful, minus the not feeling good part. Your display picture is a beautiful peaceful picture….Have a great night…Lisa

  • :heartbeat:That sounds like a lovely evening for you & Lewis.
Well you read my post already and I had a really good Christmas
    this year!

I love your site it’s so pretty!

    HuGs……Linda

  • The highlight of my day was watching the kids open their gifts and then spend the entire day playing!

    :heartbeat:

  • We had a pretty low key day here, too. We didn’t even eat breakfast until almost noon, and my honey made waffles. (I know I mentioned that before and invited you to come and have some! LOL!)  Later in the day I pulled out a couple of steaks. We were blessed this year that the church gave us meat for our freezer as a Christmas gift, so we even had steaks! YUM! I baked some potatoes and cooked brocolli. It was GOOD!

  • We got a little snow toDAY the 26th, but nothing is sticking.  Our C day was wonderful.  We stayed home, all cozy and watched t.v. and played games with the kiddos.

  • I’m glad you had a nice Christmas. Ours was pretty quiet, too. We spent the morning at home with the girls and let them open their gifts from us. They had a lot of fun, and we did, too, of course. Christmas changed so much after having kids. I don’t care what I get, I just love watching my kids’ eyes light up when they open something. :sunny:

Josh and I decided not to get each other anything this year, to save money for the upcoming house purchase. I really didn’t miss it.

We went to Josh’s parents for lunch and most of the day. It was nice, and since his other brothers and their children were out of town or with in-laws, it was just us with them, so I’m glad we stayed home this year.

But the quiet is about to leave. My parents, brother, sister-in-law and two nephews will arrive tomorrow. I’m very excited. It will be fun to have a houseful! I must get back to my preparing for their arrival…

  • Hi there! I got the video clip from crossdaily.com.  Unfortunately I cannot tell you who did the score. I absolutely LOVE Breath of Heaven such a beautiful song. Have a blessed day. Thank you so much for always having something kind to say when you post on my site.

  • :sunny:Good Morning Sweet Lady! It was just the three of us. My In-Laws flew to Vegas for a couple of weeks and canceled X-Mas. So we just spent it to ourselves and I cooked a turkey, with mash potatoes and gravy. Fresh Corn on the cob from Dad’a garden plus rolls and sweet potatoes. Of course all of their favorites and the sweet potatoes were mine! Ha!………….Jerry and I already exchanged our gift to each other early. He collects guns, so when we were in Branson and stopped at Pro Bass, he found a “Rugger,” that he once had when we first got married and sold for the money, I bought for him to replace the other and he bought my Eliptical that I had been wanting. Jess of course got a Guitar Hero 3 and 80mg Zune plus video games and movies. I think when we all sat together after dinner and played Monopoly was my Highlight of the day! Just together as a family………..Missed Philip, but  I know he is where he wants to be. So I feel if that is what makes him happy, I just have to accept it. Glad you heard from Ian. If his cough gets worse tell him to buy Vicks Vapor Rub and put it on his feet with socks at night. It will quiet the cough and he will sleep like a Baby!…………….Well I have rambled enough……Have a Great Day! (((((((hugs))))))……….In Christ’s Love……….Monic:heartbeat:

Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.
- Andrew Murray -

God often comes to us,
not in dramatic and the spectacular,
but in quiet, unexpected ways ...
In a still, small voice,
a gentle whisper,
God makes known His love.

In quietness and trust
is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15

Pleasure, possessions, power, and privilege are ultimately worthless in comparison to the indescribable
joy of knowing GOD!!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
