Do any of these stand out to you?Well, today is the first day of Spring … yes, it’s finally here … hark, I can hear those collective cheers from you, now! We’ve been dealing with rain, rain, and more rain! It seems to have stopped now, but we’ve had two straight days here in our area, and it’s been relentless! We have had flooding all over the place here, even in places that don’t normally get flooded. As I’ve said a few times today in commenting … we have a pond in our backyard, minus the fish! I would have preferred snow, but our grass does look greener! Green … a nice spring color, especially after the brownish/gray hues that we’ve been looking at for so long … I sort of feel like Dorothy when she woke up in the Land of Oz, or was it called ‘Munchkin Land’! I haven’t seen that movie in awhile … a very long while! It was one of my favorites as a very young girl. I always wanted to ’represent the Lollipop Guild’!!
)
Don’t ya just love these guys?!Moving on to a little more serious subject … we have a problem here with our next door neighbors, and maybe you could give me advice, or make some suggestions! They moved in about 7 months ago, and we don’t know whether they bought the house, or are renting it. Now keep in mind, this is a nice area, with a couple of sweet little family yard dogs sprinkled about … well, our new neighbors have recently acquired two very large dogs … brand name – ’Pit Bulls’!! They leave them out in their backyard, each tied to a large old tree, yards away from each other, and they even left them in the pouring rain, continuously barking all day long! I can’t figure out how they even have any vocal cords left at this point! I don’t think they like each other very well, either … here’s why … when we came home from the antique show Sunday night, it was dark, and fairly late, we could barely see 3 people standing in their backyard, and these two dogs sounded like they were eating each other alive! It really frightened me! The fences in the yards around here are not very high, and, if they got loose, they could jump them without any trouble! Well, that was the only night I’ve heard that ‘fighting’ going on, and I pray it will be the last!
The people directly behind them have an adorable Sheltie named George, who looks absolutely petrified … he doesn’t run around in his yard like he normally does … just sits up next to his doghouse, or their garage! Also, since they’ve been in the yard next door, I have seen nary a bird, or squirrel, at our feeder, or even in our yard this week!! My cat has also been stressed, and doesn’t like sitting in the window as often now! They certainly do not fit in this neighborhood, and someone is bound to complain! I’ve really had to pray hard regarding my attitude about this! I am thankful that they take them in at night, so the barking doesn’t keep us awake! We are praying … really praying, NOW, for a house, so we can move! We are not too happy about this, but we don’t want to make enemies out of our neighbors either, especially since they own those ‘lethal weapons’! We’re hoping George’s owners will call someone to complain so we won’t have to! I don’t think they’re the kind of people who would put up with that for very long … they have young boys at home, who also play out in their backyard. There are some other things that have happened that we are concerned about, so, if you were in our position, what would you do, short of moving? I’m not being a very nice neighbor, am I?! My husband did go and talk to them, once, about the welding he does that is really pulling on our electricity, and he didn’t seem too concerned, but they didn’t have the dogs then, either. I’m just thankful I don’t have any little ones that would play out in the yard … they wouldn’t be able to as long as those dogs are next door!! I hope you don’t think I’m complaining too much … we just need to get some advice on how to deal with this situation!
Well, all of that aside, I hope you’re all having a blessed week! My earache is gone now, and I so appreciated your prayers! I’m hoping to get to the antique mall to restock soap today, or tomorrow. I want to make some changes down there in the booth, and that might keep me busy both days. And finally, for you shutterbugs out there, go check out the photo contest and be sure to vote for your favorite set of ‘steps’ over @ iliveinmycamera … and also there are some pretty cute ‘faces’ to comment on over @ BetsaflyGallery! Have a beautiful First Day of Spring! So how are you going to spend yours?
Receive every day as a resurrection from death, as a new enjoyment of life; meet every rising sun with such sentiments of God’s goodness, as if you had seen it, and all things, new-created upon your account: and under the sense of so great a blessing, let your joyful heart praise and magnify so good and glorious a Creator. ~William Law
Blessings,

I don’t know why people keep pit bulls in urban settings! Somehow, though, people who do keep pets seem to think that everybody loves them, and to become very upset when they learn that the pets are annoying others — somehow it’s the fault of the annoyed that the pets bother them! Animal services here simply tells you to work it out with the neighbors (that’s a big help, especially if you already have tried that!), but you might try complaining about disturbing the peace, particularly if they bark at night too.
Deborah,
I would be concerned about the dogs as well. Pit bulls are scary to me. I don’t think there is much to do besides pray. I will join you in prayer for safety and that God would provide a solution to this problem.
Speaking of scary, I do not like the Munchkins from Munchkin Land. I believe I have a phobia of sorts of them. Yikes!
I am going to ponder that list. It looks like a very good list. I am thinking you might want to know ahead of time what are the laws in your area and state concerning these dogs. You might want to know how you are allowed to protect yourself and your family if these dogs are out. I wonder what their purpose is.
 I Like #20 too
I also am very tired of the brown brown grey ugly stuff…LOL I cant wait for the spring colors to apear
Im so sorry your neighbors have the two pitbulls. They can be ok dogs only if they were treated right
But being tied to a tree all day is abuse in my eyes and only makes a dog meaner. How rude to leave them out in the rain like that. Do they have dog houses or any kind of shelter at all while there chained up to those trees?? Because in some states its against the law not to have a house or some kind of shelter to get into out of the sun and rains and wind?? :lookaround: sheeesh its sad to have to *make* people take care of there Pets
I am in a scarey situation too with a nieghbor who has a huge dog whos mean tied to a tree all day and all night and noone can go near him or he will attack them. I fear he will break looses one day YIKES that would be dreadful.:nono:
Oh yeah…Oops… #20 – be more concerned with your character than your reputation. (ouch)
Dear Deborah…
First of all let me tell you that I have been in this situation here where I live. You do have some recourse. Do they have dog houses so they can get in them to get out of the rain? How long is their chains? Do they have access to food and water for the day? These are some of things that they have to provide if a dog is outside. In some states they have to have a certain amount of yard for each dog because of the size of them. I can’t remember if Indiana is one of these or not. However, all of the rest of them are required in all states. You can call “Animal Control” and speak to them on the phone. Tell them that you don’t want your name to be brought into it. They actually will tell them that one of them was driving by and heard all of the barking and decided to check it out and saw that there is no dog house etc. They will then give them “x” amount of days to get all of the requirements done, then they come back and check. If they are not done… they take the dogs, they kennel them and they have to get all of the requirements, pay for the kenneling and a fine to get them back.
Now, as far as the barking… call the police. Tell them the truth that you fear what might happen if they find out who called and to please leave your name out of it. They will respect this. The police will go to the house and knock on the door and tell them that they have to quiet down their dogs. If they are not home, at least the call was documented. If everyone does this then after so many calls they can be sited and even fined.
Lastly, just so you know, I’ve had a pit bull and I can tell you that they are not all mean. It is in how they are raised and trained. Unfortunately, I live in a state that is famous for their cock fights and dog fights. It’s very sad and cruel. We are trying very hard to put an end to this inhumane sport (?). Anyway, quite a few states have laws etc set down for certain types of dogs. Pit bulls is one of these breeds. You will have to check (you could research on line or just call and ask the local authorities)to see if the animals rights are being violated as well. It’s really kind of sad for the animals. They can’t tell you what is going on or how they are feeling.
On another note… I’ve always wanted to be a member of the Lollipop Guild!!! (don’t tell anyone… but I still sing the song and watch the movie… at least once or twice a year… hee, hee, hee).
Have a wonderful “First Day of Spring”! I pray for a sunny and peaceful day for you today! ((HUGS))
“Do any of these stand out to you?”
:lookaround: umm yep….this one the most…. :lookaround:
“8. Dear God: I have a problem. It’s me.”
I love that list of truths to remember! Some of them are funny, and ALL of them certainly are wisdom. ***I think if I were in your position, I might wait to see if another neighbor would be the one to complain! Some one should! It would be so tragic if no one said anything, and those dogs did get loose and hurt a person or pet. *** I am glad you are feeling better. I have a sore throat and my hubby is not doing so well. I slept a lot yesterday, and I know that helped. I am just trying to drink plenty of water and herb tea today. We have to go out tonight. My honey came home from the church office and went right to bed. Poor guy! ** I pray you have a blessed Easter weekend, Deborah! Our church will be having a fellowship dinner after the Easter morning service, and I am trying to think of what to bring. I didn’t know the stores were all going to be closed today, and they will also be closed tomorrow. Denmark is really serious about holidays, and there are many of them! Hopefully I can find someplace open on Saturday and get there before it is too crowded. HUGS! :heartbeat:
I think that I would call and complain – whoever one calls – it would help if more than one neighbor would call. And it doesn’t sound fair to the dogs if they are being left out in the rain, etc, It wouldn’t hurt for the police or for animal control to be making some extra rides through that neighborhood to check on things, and it might be that they are not properly cared for, don’t have shots up-to-date, etc. The authorities wouldn’t have to tell them who called, and you might be just the phone call needed to protect something disasterous from happening!
:sunny:Good Morning Sweet Friend! I will be praying for God’s Wisdom on dealing with those type of neighbors. I don’t have any advise about that situation. Sorry:(………………I will be spending my first day of Spring at work! Hoping next week in Dallas is going to be nice but not humid or very hot!…………….Hope the rain slows down where you are and you can get some relief from the flooding! Hope you have a Thankful Thursday! And Happy Spring!…………..In Christ’s love…….Monic:heartbeat::wave::heartbeat:
