  • Hey y'all!

Wanted to let you know that I am back here on Xanga!
It's been too long, and I've missed everyone here!
I was finally able to sign up for another year of Premium ...
mainly to avoid those wretched ads!

Hope this finds you all doing well and enjoying the change of the seasons this year.
The fall colors in our area have been nothing short of amazing,
which was surprising, since we had such an extremely dry summer.

I'm not complaining ... no, not at all!
I'll share some of my autumn photos here soon!

Today it was very close to *80, and a beautiful Indian Summer day it was!
Step outside my door right now, and you'll see a cloudy day with some rain,
and much cooler temps for the next few days ...
    it's only *48 now!

Have to say ... after the long HOT summer we had this year,
I'm so ready for the cooler temps,
and maybe even a little snow!
Won't be long now and the holidays will be here ...
    where does the time go?!

Well we have sure had some 'growing' times since I've been away ...
all in His plan to bring us into a closer walk with Him!
I'll share more about that soon ...
but, for now I just wanted to let
you know that I'm back and I would love to hear from you!

I've noticed a lot of changes around here, too ...
not sure if I like this format for the editor where we write our weblog entries ...
who ever said that change was good! Lol!!

Well, I hope you all have a blessed weekend!
I'll be doing a bit of decorating around here ...
getting some of the older graphics and photos updated with new ones.

I sure am looking forward to connecting with my sweet Xanga friends again,
and hopefully making some new ones!
Drop me a comment and let me know that you're still here
and would like to pick up where we left off!

    Hugs xoxo

  • It's been a long, long time!!

I'm here ... is anyone out there that would still remember me?!

Oh, so much has happened since my last post ... where do I even begin?!
First of all, I hope I'm doing this entry thingy right ...
    everything around here has changed!!

Well, nothing ever really stays the same now, does it?!
Sometimes that's a good thing ... sometimes, not so much!

One good thing about it is, God NEVER changes!!
His love stays the same through the ages ...
there may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning ...
and when the oceans rage, we don't have to be afraid, cause we know that He loves us!!
He makes all things work together for our good!!
    His love NEVER FAILS!!!

I just want to share this video with you for now ...
I've been thinking of you all, and hope I'll hear from some of you soon!

I have to say, I'm just not the best 'Facebooker',
for those of my Xanga friends who are there!

Be encouraged as you watch this!!
No matter what you go through, or are going through right now,
    HE WILL NEVER FAIL YOU!!

(and, if you have a prayer request, something I can agree with you in prayer for, please leave it in the comment section!)

  • I'm back ...... with my family!

Oh my ... it's time for not only an update, but to also make some major changes over here in Xangatown/ville/land - whichever you prefer!  I do think it's time for this 'tea' theme to be shelved for awhile!  I'll see what I can come up with ... I've missed working with the themes over here, and I have to laugh at the calender that is still on here ... December of 2010! They quit making those calendars, closed down their site, so I'm going to have to find another source!   Boy, do I ever need to change things ... I just hope there are still some of my friends here left to see them!

I know it's been so long since I've been anywhere close to being consistent around here!  So much has happened since my son, Ian, came home - married!  New adjustments aren't always easy, but God knows everything that is going on, and He offers peace in the midst.  I do hope you're all doing well ... I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I've missed it over here ... and most of all, missed staying up to date with my 'old blog' friends!  It's been almost five years (come September) since I joined Xanga.  I met so many sweet friends, and if at all possible, I hope I can keep them! :)   I've seen so many come and go now ... it's sad to think about, isn't it.  I often wonder how they are, and how God is working in their lives.  I'm going to go through my sub list, and see who is still here, and if any of you see this, please drop by and let me know!  I'd love to hear how you're doing!

We are all growing here ... ever since we lost O.P. and Mom Betty, things have been different with the family.  Seems everyone is busy living life and we don't get together as often as we did back then.  I miss that!  I started a family Facebook page, and still there aren't many who show up there, either.  Well, I'm so blessed to say, that I do finally have my son home again, and now with his wife, we are working at building our own little corner of the 'family'.  There have been those adjustments for us all since they came home in February, also getting to know one another, but we have a deep love in our hearts for our new 'daughter', and even with the struggles and things she is needing to overcome, we know she is where God wants her ... we know they are both where He wants them to be!  Yes, Praise the Lord, they are finally home!

In my last post, I mentioned that they needed a car ... I want to thank you for your prayers!  After many weeks of us driving them where they needed to go, God did finally provide, and it was indeed a miracle!  A friend sold Ian a small car, good on gas mileage, for only $1.00!  He said someone had done that for them when they first got that car, and he wanted to "pay it forward" and bless someone else!  I'm so thankful that it was Ian and Nicole!  It needs a little bit of work, but they couldn't be happier to be 'free' to go when they want to, or need to go!  Unfortunately, right now though, they are fixing a flat tire and my sweet hubby is there helping them.  Along with the other small repairs, they'll need a spare tire now, but we know that God will provide ... He has done so many wonderful things for them since they've been home, but now, things are getting more difficult for them. Circumstances are changing for them here so fast!  My heart breaks for them both to see them struggling ......

I had mentioned also in my last post about Ian having an editing job with a local Christian production company.  He was just getting ready to edit the movie they are filming over the next couple of months, but now they are unable to pay him because the funds just aren't there, and Ian was told that his boss is going to be doing the editing ... that leaves Ian without a job, but he was working for almost nothing over the past few months there, anyway.  He did a lot of good for their company, and there is still a possibility that he'll work there again, that is if the sponsored funding comes in, or a different position comes available with less pay.  He has been depressed about it all, but at least he's not completely jobless.  He's working with his dad and uncle, putting in hardwood flooring, which he is very thankful for, even though he'd rather be editing.  It's something he loves, and I have to say, very good at it, too!  And, not only that ... the house they are renting from a friend, just went up for sale, and they weren't even told that this was going to happen!  They have a year's lease, but if the house sells, our friend told them it would be up to the new owners as to whether or not they would honor the lease agreement, so please be in prayer that God will provide another home for them!  This house was another miracle that God blessed them with when they first moved home ... a friend from church told them they could rent his house that he and his wife were going to live in, but she passed away about 2 weeks before Ian and Nicole came home.  He wanted to help them get on their feet here, and the rent would only be $142.00 per month for the first 6 months, then it would go up to $600 per month, which is still very reasonable for what they have, but now, everything has changed for them!  We're not sure what happened with our friend ... he has disappeared from church, and we have heard that he is getting married and moving out of state soon, and apparently wanted to get this house sold quick.  It would have been better if he had told them about this though, or even talked to us, but what can we say?  We just pray for him now, and hoping he will have a change of heart ... otherwise, we're praying the house doesn't sell too fast ... Ian needs to get some money saved before they can even think of moving now ... please say a prayer for this need as well.

I know I'm sharing a lot here ... I guess I needed to let go, and get it off my shoulders ... as a mother we an carry all their burdens ... you want to give your children the world, and make theirs all right, but we can't do that, can we?!  We can pray, and that's the best thing we can do!  We know God is working in their lives right now, and all these things are happening to them for a reason ... if we jump in and help with every little thing, how can that give God room to work?!  I must say we're learning the meaning of 'hands off'!  I read a devotional yesterday that really spoke about this very thing and it said .........

Living a life of faith often requires us to leave things alone.  If we have completely entrusted something to God, we must keep our hands off it.  He can guard it better than we can, and He does not need our help.

"Things in our lives may seem to be going all wrong, but God knows our circumstances better than we do. And He will work at the perfect moment, if we will completely trust Him to work in His own way and in His own time.  Often there is nothing as godly as inactivity on our part, or nothing as harmful as restless working, for God has promised to work His sovereign will."  - A.B. Simpson

In times like these, it truly is a comfort to drop the entanglements and perplexities of life into God's hands and leave them there, isn't it!! He faithfully gives us that peace that we so long for during the storms of life!

Thank you for taking the time to come by and read all of this, and again, I do appreciate those prayers for Ian and Nicole!  I hope more of you will drop in to say hi!  Let me know you're still out there!  I've missed you all!  And please, excuse the mess around here ... it's high time that I change some of the old pictures and things I've had on since Ian left!  Well, he's home now - and our family just got a little bigger ... we have a daughter!  Yes, it's a new season here in our lives, and I hope to be sharing more, along with photos and staying up to date with you all as each day rolls on!  I pray you all have a truly blessed weekend!  It's good to be back home here, too! :)

    Love & Hugs,
    ~ Deborah <><

P.S. Thought I would share a picture of our family ... my dear husband, Lewis, me, our sweet Nicole, and our precious son, Ian.  This was taken on February 15th at the airport ... the day Ian flew home with our 'daughter'!  You can tell that my hubby is very emotional ... he cries so easily, but I love that about him ... I have to say, it certainly was an emotional day, and the tears did flow!

  • Long overdue - Spring and an Update!

I do believe that spring has sprung ... well, maybe!!  Hope you're all doing well ... I know it's been far too long since I've posted here, and I'd sure love to hear from any who may be left, and still following my blog!  I will be coming around and seeing how many of you are still here ... I hope to find a few.  I've missed it here, that is for sure!  Lots of changes since fall of this past year.  I want to share with those of you who remember my son, Ian, who went to California back in 2007 with his best friend to work at a church, that he is now back home, and is happily married!!  They were married in California on February 11th, and moved back here, to Indiana on the 15th!  We couldn't be happier!  He is working with his dad in the family business for now.  He will be the main video editor to a local production studio here very soon, and that makes him extremely happy!  When they moved back home, they basically had only the clothes on their back, and God has miraculously provided a home for them.  They did get to borrow a vehicle from a friend for about 6 weeks, but now, are in need of a car as the vehicle had to go back to the owner ... please pray that they are able to save the money, and find something 'cheap'!  Work with his dad is slow, which makes it more difficult, but we know, with prayers and faith, that God will provide ... again!  He is ever so faithful!

I'd sure love to hear from some of you here on Xanga, again ... so, if you see this, please do, leave me a comment, and I'll be right over to check in with you, as well!  For now, I hope you're all enjoying a nice spring.  I know there have been so many storms across the country, and here we've had some warm days, and now it's cooler again.  Spring will get here eventually, but in the meantime, here are a couple of photos I took that will bring hope to your heart for those warmer days!  Have a blessed week!

    Hugs,
    ~ Deborah <><

Am I growing or eroding in who I am becoming?

A wise woman grows in understanding who she really is.
A woman who knows how God sees her is confident in her identity.
She knows God made her just the way she is and for specific tasks.

She does not compare the inside of herself with other women.
She makes the effort to grow in her knowledge of the truth of what God says about her.

A woman who understands who she is in God’s sight knows she is:

    Accepted    (Ephesians 1:5)
    Secure        (Philippians 1:6)
    Significant   (John 15:16)

Her identity is not bound up in what she has, how she looks, or what she wears.
Her identity is secured in who she is as a beloved child of God.

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do”  (Ephesians 2:10).

Read Psalm 139 and ask God to fill your heart with the knowledge of just how treasured you are to Him.
Ask Him to help you grow in your understanding of who you really are!

    Father God,
Sometimes it’s hard for me to think of myself as a piece of Your artwork – created to be just who I am. Help me to embrace the knowledge of who You say I am! I know all too well the weaknesses in me. I invite You to use these very things that I dislike in me to be the entry points of Your strength and power in my Iife. I know You have things for me to do that go beyond this “to do” list of mine. Help me to be ready to give a kind word or a hug to someone today. Show me who You want to touch through me. Help me to live as an accepted, secure and significant child of the Almighty God today by the power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

A Daily Devotion - By Gail Rodgers

Hope you're all doing well, and enjoying your summer.  We've been enduring a lot of heat, along with the 'muggies', and rain. I'm so very thankful for air conditioning!  I don't remember it being so muggy and humid as it's been the past few years.  I'm drinking lots of iced green tea, these days, as well!  In other news ... things may be changing here for us ... we may be moving, after almost 20 years in the same house!  We're still not quite sure though, so your prayers would be appreciated!  Do you ever ask God to put the answer to something right in front of you, making it as plain as day?!  Well, now is that time for us!  We have some doubts, and we're praying we'll get the answer very soon! I often wonder what Abraham felt like when he set out for the promised land .. having no idea where he was going ... now that takes faith, and lots of it!  There are a few things that are concerning us about this house ... like the fact it's $250 more a month, in rent, then where we are now, also, whether, or not, we can have our two cats!  We're waiting on that answer from our friends from church, who own the house ... I don't think we could part with them right now ... nor they with us!  We're all pretty attached to one another, around here!  The house has no basement, and, we do here, for our storage, so that would be a bit difficult.  Other than that, it's very nice ... but, so is cheap rent!  Hopefully, we'll have an answer in the next couple of days ... it's very stressful thinking about moving, with all the things we've accumulated over the years here!
We haven't moved in so long .... I forget how!!! Lol!  But seriously, thinking of trying to go through it all, de-clutter, purge,, and move, all at the same time, is causing me major sleep deprivation!

I wanted to thank you for your prayers for my sister, Pattie ... I had shared about her in my last post, and I'm happy to say, she is doing much, much better now .... I'm so thankful for that!  Our son, Ian, however, is still in need of much prayer.  He is struggling, and things are still difficult for him out in California.  There are some things that are deeply concerning us, surrounding our son, and, your prayers are so appreciated!  Someday, I'll be able to share more, but as I said before, God knows Ian's needs, even more than we do!

I need to get back to some visiting here, catching up with some more of you on my list ... I've missed so much!  Thank you for remembering me ... I know I'm not as consistent as I use to be around here, but I haven't 'left', as some others, I know, have decided to do.  I'm thinkin' they might miss it around here ... I know when I'm not here, I really do miss it!  When I get on my site, it's like being 'home'!  Well, I pray you all have a blessed week, and, keep an eye out ... I'll be around soon!

    Hugs,

  • Hello from a long lost, but I hope not forgotten, fellow Xangian ... or, is it Xangan?!

To my dear friends, who commented on my last ... last ... last post, thank you!! I've missed you all! I know I keep in touch, in a very small way, over on Facebook, but, it's just not the same as being here! I don't even know where to begin to update ... it's been since March, and so much has happened since then!  I'm not able to change the size of my font here, for some reason, so I hope this isn't too small to read!! I may have to work at getting it right, once I see what it looks like after I submit it to my site! Have they been making changes around here, too?!  Well, anyway, first, a quick update on the family, for those of you who have followed ... Mom Betty, and O.P., are still hanging in there, and seem to be doing pretty good.  They finally got a new doctor, which is a definite plus for them both.  The family is relieved that they're getting much better care!  My sister has recently moved near us, again, and I'm happy about that.  I'm concerned for her, though ... she's been having some health issues which could turn serious, if she's not careful.  She's a hard working lady, and doesn't know when to slow down! I know I haven't been around much, but if you would, please, say a prayer for Pattie.  Our son, Ian ... is still in California, and is struggling with some issues, and also needs prayer.  We're praying he'll be home within the year.  We miss him more, and more, every day ... it's been hard, but, we hold onto hope, our faith, and trust, knowing God will bring him through the circumstances he's facing, complete the work He began in him, and bring him home again, in His time! Please keep him in your prayers! I'm not at liberty to share it openly, but, God knows!

Here at home, we're not doing many shows these days. Things have slowed way down, and the soap is shelved for the time being, but we're grateful that God is providing work for my husband! These are days that we're learning to trust Him in all things, and, with all things dear to us... days where we spend more time in the Word, growing closer to Him, learning to listen to what He would have us do.  Hubby is still ministering at the prison, and now he's teaching a class at church, "Abiding in Christ' ... a timely message for today!  I've been spending time studying all-things-photography, trying to get a small business started.  Right now, I'm still in the practice, and preparation, mode.  I recently did do an engagement photo shoot, for some special friends, who will be getting married in September.  It's taking me time, this month, to get all of the photos edited ... they're excited to see them, and I was so blessed they asked me to do this! I'll be sliding in as a third 'shooter' at their wedding, to capture those emotional moments of the day.  They have a fantastic pro-photographer, Evangeline Renee, doing the main photos, and Tim, Ian's best friend, who had gone to CA with him, will be working with her!  I know I'll learn a lot, by working with those two!  Also, our pastor's wife, asked if I'd want to do their family photos soon ... we're waiting for cooler, dryer, weather for some outdoor shots.  I'm practicing on some willing family members, as well ... you should see how many photos I have of my dear husband! Lol!!   It's all a process ... there's a lot to learn with all of it ... not just the camera, but also the technique, lighting, and learning to work with people to capture the best images.  I do need all the prayer I can get!! I'm hoping to take some classes that are being offered at a local photography school, soon.  I also, became a member of I Heart Faces, for those who love photography, and it's been a very good place to learn from others, about every aspect of it, including the editing.  It's really an art these days, not to mention, time consuming, with the new, more involved, cameras, and all the other programs they offer for post processing.  Last month, I did a photo shoot with some very cooperative subjects ... flowers!  Yep, they were very easy to work with!! Lol! I'll share a couple of photos below ... I need constructive criticism, so, do let me know what you think!  I'll share more of some other things I'm working on, later. God has given me such a love for this, and I want to bring Him glory through the images I take!

We've had some turbulent weather for the past few days here ... the storms seem relentless, with high winds, hail, and lots of rain, all of which have hit about the same time, for the last four days, but, I hear we're getting a break for the next couple of days ... although not from the heat. in fact, it's going to be even warmer ... in the 90's!! It's wilting season around here ... hazy, hot, and humid ... yep, it's summertime in Indiana!

Well, that's about it for now, except maybe a few other boring facts that I'll save for later!  I do hope you're all doing well ... I'll be making some rounds this week, to catch up with you.  It'll be good to 'see' you all again!  In the meantime, thank you for stopping by, and catching up with me ... I really have missed it here!  Thank you, too, for those prayers!! Have a blessed day, and let me know how you're doing, as well!

    Hugs,
                 ~ Deborah <><

Oh, my! I think it's about time I move from Christmas, and winter, into spring, and sunshine, flowers, and birds, etc., don't you?! It's been awhile since I've been here to update, so .... here goes! I've sure missed being here, and, I pray you're all doing well! I can't wait to get around and see how you've all been! Let's see, where to begin ... we've been blessed in that neither hubby, or myself, have been sick this winter! We are so thankful for that! There's been so much sickness around us, and I do think our daily doses of Vitamin D, C, and Zinc really helped! We've been eating better lately, too, and I've been exercising, walking 2 to 3 miles a day, working up to 5.  Now, if I can only get hubby to tag along! Actually, it's an in-home walking program ... especially since we had all that snow, I figured it was the best way to get started! I use the 'Walk Away the Pounds' tapes, with Leslie Sansone, and those are some major workouts when I add the weights, I tell ya! I have been feeling a bit better, though, and that's a good thing! Every little bit helps when you get up in your ..... well, when you get older! LoL!

Well, it's certainly been a long winter, hasn't it?! I've enjoyed the snow, though, and, I'm going to miss it, but it'll be nice to have some warmer weather, too! Some family news ... Mom Betty, and O.P. are doing pretty good. Their oldest daughter recently came for a visit, which really cheered them up. Our son, Ian, hasn't made it back for a visit since January, '09 ... far too long, and we're missing him more and more ... but God has used this time apart to grow us all, over the past, almost, 3 years! He knows best .. yes, God knows what will bring us closer to Himself ... and this certainly has!  Hopefully, we'll see Ian soon, though! And, remember Tim ... his best friend who originally went out to California with him? Well, he's in Haiti right now, doing some work there! We're anxious to hear what exactly he did do, once he gets home! He's keeping us somewhat updated over on his Facebook page.

I'm happy to say that work has been steady for hubby through the winter months, even with all the snow.  Normally, it's a very slow time, but, God has been His usual, faithful self, and provided the work ... even on those real snowy days! So, how was your winter? Did you get snow, a little, a lot, or none?! It's been cool and rainy, here, the past few days ... I'm ready for some nice warm sunshine, blue skies, birds singing, green grass ..... I think the first day of spring is coming soon, too.  It's always close when we have our time change (spring forward) which was this past Saturday night.  Unfortunately, we lost an hour of sleep, but gained an hour of light! I still wonder why they need to do that, though!  I'm still adjusting to that lost hour! =

We also got .... 'the envelope'!!  Have you?!  Ours came today ... I was wondering why they had to send a letter ahead of time, letting us know it would be coming mid-March.  A waste of money, I would think!  I have heard there is a long form that some homes would be receiving, so I did some research, and I've read ... "the ACS (American Community Survey) will replace the long form in 2010 and thereafter, by collecting long-form-type information throughout the decade, rather than only once every 10 years." Hmmm! How often?! I do remember getting the short form for the last census, and it was simple.  Now, they say, the questions are getting more intrusive, and personal! So, have you gotten your 'envelope' yet? Long, or short?!  What are your thoughts on all this new information they want to collect this year?  Well, that's enough about that ... it's a late night, and I'm off to bed ... we had a show this past weekend, and with the time change, I'm still trying to catch up!  I'll share more soon, but tomorrow, I'm going to start some visiting around here, to see what you've all been doing ... in the meantime, have a blessed week ... I hope you all have some pretty spring weather, too!

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!

    Animated Christmas scene

Merry CHRISTmas to you all!  Praying you are having a most blessed Christmas week!  It doesn't look much like
the season around here, and, I know it's been awhile, but my goal is to get back here much more often, after the
first of the year!  I do hope this finds you all well!  We've had a busy season, which is slowing up a bit, now.
We were looking forward to Ian coming home on the 27th, but his work load increased,
and he is unable to make it at that time.  We were looking forward to having him here for a week.
We're hoping for mid-January, but even that looks doubtful.
So, for now, we will enjoy spending time with both sides of our family, here, for the holidays.

This morning, Christmas, we're going to cook up a nice breakfast for the two of us ...
french toast sounds nice ... then, we'll get ready to go to my brother's family for dinner this afternoon.
I haven't seen some of their family for over a year, so I'm looking forward to that!
Even baked up a ton of pumpkin bread to share with them all, like I did in years past!
Tomorrow, Saturday, we will be picking up a last minute gift for our Christmas exchange and dinner,
on Sunday after church, at my sister-in-laws, with Mom Betty and O.P. ...
we're all so very happy to have them both with us for another Christmas!

Our weekend is full, and we are truly blessed, as I hope you are, as well!  I pray you all have a wonderful and most
blessed Christmas day!  Here is a video I stumbled upon tonight looking for Christmas music ...
I have never heard this song before, but it deeply touched my heart ... I wanted to share it with you!
First, please scroll to the bottom of this page and pause the music on my playlist ...
this song in the video, is so meaningful!  This baby changed everything!!

     Merry Christmas, my friends!

tiny candle animated Bless you all!

    What Shall I Wear
    A Daily Devotion

Early one morning, I stared into my closet and wondered what I should wear? I was about to pull one of my nice shirts off of the hanger, but I thought better of it. I didn't want to waste a nice shirt on a day that was a "just-get-it-over-with" kind of day.

"Today is not special," I thought. "I should just wear jeans and a t-shirt."

I put on the jeans and t-shirt and inspected myself in the mirror. I realized that I pretty much wear jeans and a t-shirt every day. As I stared at my reflection, God nicely connected my outward attire to my attitude. I had a negative attitude towards this day. I wanted to hurry up and get it out of the way. I had already made up my mind that this day would be unimportant and absolutely no fun. And judging from my hamper overflowing with t-shirts and jeans, I harbored that attitude a lot.

Although there is nothing wrong with wearing jeans and a t-shirt, God revealed an expectation and attitude I had about my days that needed to be readjusted. Every morning, I roll up my sleeves and plow through my day like a tractor on autopilot. I trudge along and miss most of the enjoyment because my expectations are low and my attitude is wrong.

    Have you ever done that?

Have you ever thought to yourself, "If only I could get through this day, life would be better"?

God is teaching me that I need to change my attitude and expect great things every day. God is the master weaver of our days, and He does not waste a single one. None of our days drop under His radar; He has a divine appointment for us each and every day!

Now, I'm not saying that every day is going to be filled with rainbows and lollipops, but each day does serve a purpose. I think if we put our trust in God, we can find joy even in the hard times. God doesn't waste a single heartache, conflict or tragedy. He cares about us and our days, and He wants us to be blessed.

If you are a Christian, you have the ultimate portal to joy -- Jesus Christ! People are looking at us, and they are wondering why we are here on this earth. They want to see if Jesus makes a difference in our lives. They need to see our joy, especially during the mundane and hard times.

If we start tapping into the joy that is within us, we would have joy every where we go, no matter the circumstance! Once we get good at opening that joy, we can start sharing it with those around us. We can pass out God's joy like it's going out of style, and people will praise God because of it!

I am learning to put on a new attitude every morning, even if I still put on my jeans and t-shirt! What about you? How can you give your attitude a new wardrobe?

"This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118.24).

"Lord, help me to have an new attitude today. I want to live like each day has a grand purpose. I know that You do not waste a single moment in this vapor of a life. I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen."

Remember me??! I do hope you're all doing well ... I'm 'home' again, to do some visiting, and to catch up with you, also, to update a bit, and share with you what's been happening since my last post. Did you all have a nice Thanksgiving?! We had a nice one with hubby's family on the Sunday before Thursday, so, on Thanksgiving, we had a nice quiet day at home ... no turkey ... just Taco Soup, and it was delish! We also heard from Ian ... he will be coming home the end of December, for a week. He wasn't going to be able to, due to his finances, but a friend from church, offered to let him use his business voucher for a trip home! What a blessing!! A week isn't very long, but, I'm so very thankful for any time we can get with him ... it's been a whole year since we've been able to look in his eyes, and, hug our son! We're looking forward to his visit, but I have so much to do around here, to make it nice for him. My housekeeping has not been the best, of late, and I hope he'll forgive me for my shortcomings in this area! = Say a prayer that I can get all done, that I need to, before he arrives!  I'll keep you posted on the date!  I am a bit concerned about him flying, though, with all this talk of that flu virus! I was told that a well known doctor was on the news saying, not to fly this holiday if you can avoid it, but if you have to, you need to wear a mask!! I pray he can find the one they recommend to wear! I have had a couple of friends with the H1N1 virus ... one a relative. They went through a rough period but seem to be getting better now. How are you all doing ... are you staying well? So far, hubby and I are ... thank you, Lord!!

We looking forward to a bit of snow this week! It will really feel like Christmas then! How's the weather where you are? I was wondering ... do you have any special Christmas traditions each year? We usually go to a little German town called, Metamora, for their annual Christmas Walk.  There are illuminaries all along the streets and sidewalks, horse and buggy rides, barrels with roaring fires, where you can warm yourself ... hot cups of cocoa, and soup, carolers, little shops decorated with Christmas lights that reflect off the water in the canal which runs through the middle of the town!  We love going, and haven't been for 2 years now, because of our craft shows ... but this year, our December is free, so we are planning a trip very soon!  So what special tradition do you, or would you, have for Christmas?! You all have a blessed week, and I'll be around to see the rest of you soon!

  • Autumn Forever-Autumn-Posters

Autumn Greetings ... I trust you're all doing well, and, enjoying the most beautiful time of year ... well, at least in my opinion, it is, anyway!  It's okay, if you beg to differ, though!  That's why we have four seasons ... we can choose! =)  Yes, it has been awhile ... *sigh* ... again!  Hope you all haven't forgotten about me ... I haven't forgotten about you, that's why I'm here! =)  We've had our craft shows that have been keeping us busy, friends getting married, family in from out of town, work, a few other family matters we're dealing with, and now, getting ready for Thanksgiving.  I trust your preparations are going well ... I hope so, you only have 9 days, depending on when you read this, that is!!  Can you believe how fast the time is going?!  We will be spending Thanksgiving at my sister, and brother-in-law's again ... it's our yearly tradition.  They have a large home, and a nice, long, Amish dinette table to seat the family at.  We feel like the Waltons sometimes! =)  Although, the past couple of years, it seems to be shrinking, with members of family leaving home, moving away.  It's sad sometimes to think about.  We doubt that Ian will be here for the holidays ... I'm not quite sure I want him to fly back anyway, with this flu going around ... I've heard it's not a good time to fly!  All that re-circulated air in the plane ... oh, dear! =  I know if things change for him, and, he does come home, we'll pray, and trust, that the Lord will keep him from those nasty germs ... and, if I do start to get nervous about it, as we/us moms can so easily do, well, I'll just read Psalm 91!  That always brings me peace!  God is ultimately in control anyway!  Do you have any particular scripture you read that calms your fears?  I know there are many, but maybe just one that stands out more than another, for you?

Mom Betty is doing well ... we all took her out for her birthday this past weekend, to Texas Road House ... it was her choice, and she picked a good one!  My sister-in-law made the best cake, that I believe, I've ever tasted!  She brought it to the restaurant, and the waitress even joined us for a piece!  She deserved it!  She was a great waitress!  I'm going to try to see if she'll share her recipe .. she wants to start a small cake business, for weddings, and such, this coming spring.  Her hubby decorates them beautifully, too!  We had a very nice time, although O.P. wasn't feeling too well after his meal.  We are all concerned for him, as he is battling dementia, so, we just continue to pray, and encourage him.  We're hoping more of their children will come see them for the holidays ... everyone is so spread out over the country, in 3 states. =(

So, what plans do y'all have for Thanksgiving?  Let's see ... turkey, ham, or both ... mashed potatoes, with gravy, sweet potato casserole with marshmallows melted on top, or both ... dressing (or stuffing, if you prefer), green bean casserole, hot buttery rolls?!  What special dish do you like?!  Me ... ha, I like it all!  I do remember someone even making homemade chicken and noodles to go along with our Thanksgiving meal ... and they were the best ever!  Okay, now that I've made myself hungry ... and probably you, too, I'll move on to another subject!

I've been working on my photography, over the past few months, and I've posted some of the images on my photoblog ... it's over on Blogspot, if any of you have ever been there.  The more recent ones I have on there, are from a photo session I did with a very special, young couple ... Christina and Trent.  We are close friends with Christina's family, and have been for quite a few years.  We've literally watched her grow up, and she's one of those people who is a lot older than she looks!  They were both very fun to work with!  We are planning to do more, soon!  They're letting me use them for practice! =)  I had also entered some of the other photos in the Capture Indy photo contest a few months ago, and, I was very blessed to get an email just the other day, saying that one of them had been chosen to go in the 'coffee table' book they are publishing for our city!  I must say, I was surprised, and very excited!  There were so many fantastic entries!  I believe that each state is doing a photo journal, capturing different aspects of the cities, and it's been fun, over the past few months looking through, and voting on all the photos for the one that was done for Indiana.  The picture they chose was the up-close portrait of my niece, Cassandra, which is a little farther down on my Blogspot page.  I really love photography, but I need more confidence to get out there, and just 'do it'.  I don't like using the word 'self' confidence ... I'd like to think of it as having a God-given confidence!  Faith in what He can do through us, not what we can do in our own strength!  Does anyone else battle with that ... feeling unsure about your ability to do something you really enjoy, and then feeling like what you do just isn't good enough for anyone to really take an interest in?  Well, I struggle with it ... have for years. and I know I've missed out on many blessings in my life, because I've held back!  =(  I just need to realize that the Lord accepts me, and, in the end, that's all that really matters ... whatever anyone 'thinks'!

I'll finish up here, so you can get back to your day!  It's cold, gray, and rainy here.  A nice day to stay in near a fire, if your blessed to have a fireplace.  Ours is unusable right now ... we need a chimney sweep! =  I pray you're all staying well!  So much of this flu is going around, and we are blessed to say that we haven't been affected, as some of our friends have.  We are taking preventative measures, and trusting that we stay well!  We have another antique/craft show on the weekend after Thanksgiving, and we can't afford to be sick!  Okay, that's about it for now ... I'll try to get back sooner, than later, to update, and I'll also be making some rounds here this week, visiting and catching up with you all!  I want to thank you for coming by, and taking the time to read here, again!  Hope you all have a wonderfully blessed Wednesday, abiding in Him!

    coffee cup Hugs,

quote and verse

Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.
- Andrew Murray -

God often comes to us,
not in dramatic and the spectacular,
but in quiet, unexpected ways ...
In a still, small voice,
a gentle whisper,
God makes known His love.

In quietness and trust
is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15

Pleasure, possessions, power, and privilege are ultimately worthless in comparison to the indescribable
joy of knowing GOD!!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
