Saturday’s Smile :o)
“B.C.” Humor
My friend is a rather old-fashioned woman, quite proper and elegant, especially in her speech. She and her husband were planning a winter vacation in Florida for two weeks, so she wrote to a local campground for reservations. She didn’t quite know how to ask about the bathroom facilities, but whe wanted to be sure it was fully equiped. She did not want to write the word “toilet” in her letter. After much deliberation, she thought of the old words, “bathroom commode”, but when she wrote it down she thought it was being too forward. She started all over again, rewrote the entire letter, and referred to the bathroom commode as the “B.C.” “Does the camp have it’s own B.C.?”
Well, the campground owner received her letter, but he could not figure out what she was talking about. The “B.C.” business really stumped him. After a while he showed the letter to some of the campers, but no one came up with an answer. After much thought, the owner decided that she must be asking about the location of the local Baptist Church so he wrote the following reply:
Dear Madame:
I regret very much the delay in answering your letter, but I now take the pleasure of informing you that the B.C. is located six miles north of the campgrounds. It is capable of seating 250 people at one time. I will admit it is quite a distance away if you are in the habit of going regulary, but no doubt you will be pleased to know that a great number of people take lunches along and make a day of it. They arrive early and stay late. The last time my wife and I went was six years ago and it was so crouded we had to stand the whole time. Right now there is a supper planned to raise money for more seats. It will be held in the basement of the B.C.. I would like to say it pains me that I am not able to go more regularly, but it is not for the lack of desire on my part. As we grow older, it seems to be more of an effort, particularly in the cold weather. If you decide to come to our campgrounds, perhaps I could go with you the first time you go, sit with you and introduce you to all the other folks. Remember, this is a friendly community.
Hoping you will be with us for a nice vacation.)
Lewis was feeling lots better yesterday, and we did go out last night for his birthday dinner … after we both finally had our hair cut! He had a very stressful day at work, and he needed some extra pampering! We went to a restaurant called Carino’s Italian Grill. We both had their Lemon Herb Chicken, with angel hair pasta which was sauteed with spinach and roma tomatoes, seasoned green beans, and salad. I must say, that chicken was awesome! The rest of our weekend will be spent with family while they are here in town. It’s going to be beautiful here, so we are going to enjoy what’s left of the fall colors. It’s such a beautiful time of year, I only wish it could last longer! So what are your plans for the weekend? I pray that you’ll be blessed in whatever you have planned!
Hugs,
~ Deborah <><You are not loved because you are valuable.

Thanks for stopping by my site! I haven’t been getting around to visit lately either. This week has been a whirl wind.. and I’m just trying to keep up. I leave Thursday for a women’s retreat, and still don’t have everything I need purchased yet. Waiting on Jeff’s paycheck on Friday. Seems a little backwards, but God is in control!
That meal sounds WONDERFUL! Jeff has been hoping we would be able to have chicken scallopini pretty soon. I make it here at home, so it’s cheaper than eating out.. but it’s still a bit pricey due to the prosciutto the recipe calls for. It’s his absolute favorite though.. and I love cooking.
I should go.. it’s after midnight, and I need to be up in 5 hours. God bless you!
i love the joke. that’s so funny.

Love the BC story! Glad you had a good b’day dinner — I’ll have to try Carino’s, which is new here.
RYC: the blue door is in Croatia…in Rovinj …it is on the Istrian Peninsula right across the Adriatic Sea from Venice, Italy. It all used to belong to Italy…well you know…the boundaries over here shifted so many times…it is confusing what actually belongs to who and the inhabitants are always fighting about it!!! But it is very Italian in feel…we have been there twice on vacation and we love it. Both times we have taken the boat over to Venice for the day…love it too but I would now like to see other parts of Italy.
This story brought back memories. Dad use to have a copy of this story. Somewhere he found a sign that had B.C. on it and he hung it in the bathroom. That’s my dad and I am proud of him!
You are quite welcome! :sunny: I wish you were closer! I have TONS of green tomatoes! Maybe you have your own plants though…..I did think about making some filling from the recipe and canning it so I could have it whenever I get over this candida! Or, I could use xylitol in it! Then I could eat it!
Oh yes, there is so much to do! And when I think about it that I only have about 3 weeks to get everything done, it’s a little overwelming. There’s a possability that we may put our stuff in storage here till spring and just go out on a trial, and then in the spring if things are going good and we feel it’s the Lord’s will for us to stay out there, we’ll come back and get our stuff. I don’t know it that’s going to happen or not. we’re still prayin about that. Moving is such a big job, I just don’t want to get out there and then move everything back again because something doesn’t end up working out. I will take my laptop and keep xanga posted along the way though!
Here’s the GREEN TOMATO PIE recipe!
1 1/2 c sugar
1 tsp grated orange rind
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/3 tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp minute tapioka
Chop green tomatoes to fill pie shell like you would for apple pie. (I put part of the dry mix in the bottom of the pie and then the green tomatoes and then the rest of the dry mix and dot it with the butter, add the top crust) Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Turn down and watch or it bubbles over! I put a jelly roll pan or stone on the rack below the pie, it never fails they always end up running over!
I hope you like it! I really like it, but I can’t have it right now because of my candida overgrowth! :jealous:
Hope you have a good weekend!
(((HUGS)))
Hello! Have a good weekend…
:sunny:Good Morning! Yes I slept in! Working all week and getting up at 4:00 catches up!………..Glad you and Mr. Lewis had a wonderful meal and pampering for his B-Day!Hope you have a Great Day today!…………I am just going to do typical Saturday stuff, grocery shop and go shopping for some pants and shoes for Jess’s job! Yes he has a job at Pizza Hut!!…….Poor kid really has been hunting! It just seems there is a 10 to 1 ratio fro part-time jobs for School-kids!He is so excited he starts this Thursday Nov.1. We talk to him about coming back to Church and he said that he loves God but he really didn’t want to go back where people are guilty and are there because of that and to feel better because they sin.
………….He also said something to the fact that most people cheat on their spouses and they were there to look innocent
I was asking him, where did you get these ideas?? His Dad and I just looked at each other like
……….I just wonder if the things from our past church is finally having it’s impact. We were ther for 6 years when the Pastor announced that he was having an affair and it destroyed the Church!!We were very hurt by the outcome of it all. I just pray that God will repair Jess’s heart and make him see that not all places are like this. Where we are at now, is a new Church. But the Pastor and his Wife are Very seasoned in the Word and have been married for 35 years plus they both been through similiar circumstances at another church that they were Youth Pastors at.Please continue to pray for Jess. It has only been 2 and a half years since all the other stuff has happened. And I think that the dissappointment in people letting Jess down that he felt he can count on is what has built up!He was very close to our old Pastor who cheated and was there when the Walls came tumbling down!
…………………..((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))) Thank You for letting me vent and praying for him! Love you! I hope next year we can plan a trip to meet and spend a weekend together! Even if it’s us Girls!Ha!………..Have a Wonderful Weekend!………In Christ’s Love……..Monic:heartbeat::wave:
ROFL, that is so funny, I couldn’t hardly read it for laughing!! I love those stories!
Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you. Are you the one that asked me for the green tomato pie recipe?
And did you hear we’re moving to CA? :sunny:
Good morning! It is a bit dreary this morning but it is supposed to clear up a little this afternoon. At least the rain might stop. We have some neighbors who are having a weinie roast/anniversary party, so we will probably walk over there tonight. I hope the weather doesn’t spoil their plans. My son and I are playing in the worship band tomorrow morning, so need to get things ready for that and practice a little again today. THEN watch the Colts tomorrow afternoon. That’s my big plans for the weekend, and maybe a trip to Home Depot. Woohoo! Need to do some painting before Thanksgiving and Christmas roll around, which seems like next week! Have a great day!
:sunny:
Glad your hubby is feeling better and yep I did enjoy the BC letter! Thanks in joining us for candy prayer covering!
Thank you, Deborah, for the prayers for Faith. Please continue. She did sleep well up until around 5:15 at which time drank some water, but threw it up again. It’s going on 24 hours now with nothing on her stomach.
Blessings,
Paula
:fun: It has been a bit of a tough week here in lala land…so I appreciated your humourous story and showed it to my husband with me…. thanks!!! Our weekend will be busy getting ready for our whirlwind trip to the USA. We leave Friday.
Cute story about the B.C.
Glad your hubby is feeling better and that he got his birthday dinner. ** I wish my husband would get a haircut! He tends to put it off and put it off, and honestly, in another week or two, he should be able to just put it in a rubber band and wear it in a pony tail! ***Let’s see….. weekend plans…… Last night I had kids here for spaghetti. I have the cell group kids ages 18 -20 something. I just love those guys! We had a great time, we ate and had a Bible study and then just goofed around! I finally had to kick them out a little before midnight because, as I tell them, I am old and need my sleep! ** This morning we drove to a nearby town where a young couple from our church fellowship here is planting a church. We spent some time in prayer and worship and then dedicated the building to the Lord’s work. I am really excited to see what God will do there. This town has the second highest drug problem in Denmark. They really need Jesus in this place! There are more bars in the town than anything else. Many young people go there to drink and party. So, we are going to shine our light and offer something far better! ** Now it’s afternoon, and I am seriously thinking of a nap. I am still fighting this cough, and feeling the need for extra rest. **Tomorrow is another wonderful day of church! Plus, we are invited to go to my Danish daughter’s house for dinner, so I will see my grandbabies! **That’s my weekend! Aren’t you glad you asked! :p
