Well, we’ve had a blessed and eventful weekend … Saturday … hubby was home and we started working on decluttering Ian’s bedroom … oh my, the treasures we found in some boxes ‘neath his bed!  A stamp collection, a baseball card collection, coin collection and the printouts from his first business at an antique mall selling his coins, along with a collection of Franklin Mint knives we had gotten him as birthday gifts over the years ~ (anyone familiar with those?), and of course, a (cough, cough, sputter) collection of ‘dust bunnies’!  Now who doesn’t have a nice collection of those around their home somewhere?!!  They sure are easy to come by!  Well, we started to collect those ‘dust bunnies’, and wouldn’t you know it, our vacuum cleaner konked out!  It was giving us trouble earlier in the day, so when my sister dropped by, she checked it out, and we found out that there were dustbunnies stuck in the hose!  Problem solved!  It’s still an old vacuum and we are due for a new one!  It seems I’ve asked this before on here, but does anyone have any preferences on brands of vacuums?  Right after that, my husband got a call from his sister, who needed him to drive to Sam’s Club on the northside of town, and pick up a chair in his van and deliver it to her apartment.  So we put the decluttering on hold, and he headed north!  I had a nice quiet evening getting things ready for church on Sunday, and he didn’t get home till around 11:00PM … the chair was picked up and delivered by a really sweet guy, and he had a good time at dinner with his sisters, at Panera!

We also got a call from our son earlier on Saturday asking for prayer as he drove with Tim, and another friend, to San Francisco for a vacation day.  He called me three times telling me all the things I was missing, which included a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, twice … a visit to the San Francisco De Young Fine Arts Museum, which was founded in 1895, and where he said some of the exhibits were quite interesting … and of course, a nice meal at the Fisherman’s Warf.

Golden Gate bridge 2-2-08 Ian drove it twice!

He had a great time, and one of his calls was to tell me to check my e-mail for a photo he was sending back through his iPhone … he was there at that very moment … I think the picture turned out pretty good for an iPhone!  This of course, is the Golden Gate Bridge.  It was about 5:00PM there in this shot.

As you can see it was quite foggy, so that was one of our prayers … for their safe trip back to Monterey!  Ian drove it both ways!  Me … although I would have enjoyed myself, I probably would have ‘thunk twice’ before venturing into all of that traffic there … and I’m not too fond of going over bridges … especially long bridges, with lots of water under them … but Ian had a great time … nothing seems to bother him much … wish I had inherited that!

**And, thankfully, they made it back without any trouble at all!

Now for Sunday:  I fixed a new, easy recipe for yesterday’s pitch in at church … Tater Taco Casserole from ‘Taste of Home’ (recipe below) … it turned out pretty good … not a morsel was left after the meal … and I also made powdered sugar brownies which, thankfully, made it into the church this week!  Those birds were pretty disappointed though!  Here’s that recipe, if anyone is interested!

TATER TACO CASSEROLE TATER TACO CASSEROLE
    ~Taste of Home~
    2 pounds ground beef
    1/4 cup chopped onion
    1 envelope taco seasoning
    2/3 cup water
1 can (11 ounces) whole kernel corn, drained
1 can (11 ounces) condensed fiesta nacho cheese soup, undiluted
1 package (32 ounces) frozen Tater Tots

In a skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in taco seasoning and water.  Simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.  Add corn and soup; mix well.  Transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish.  Arrange Tater Tots in a single layer over the top.  Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until potatoes are crispy and golden brown.

We had a wonderful time at church, with a friend of Ian’s coming as well.  Whenever I see his friends, it makes me feel closer to Ian!  Also, our church is hosting a ‘Dave Ramsey’ seminar starting mid-February, which we have signed up for, and he will be doing that along with us!  Anyone familiar with Dave Ramsey

Well, there’s much more to share about Sunday, our son, and the ‘move’, but I’ll save that for the next time … aren’t you glad?!!  Did you do anything special for the weekend?  I’ll be around to visit later today, and I pray that each one of you will have a wonderful Monday … me, well, I’m going to be busy getting things ready for our son … we’re picking him up at the airport Wednesday night … I get to keep him for 12 wonderful days, and I am so excited!!

  • Consumer Reports lists the Eureka Boss Smart as a top rated vacuum.  (About $120ish I think.) Dysons are awesome, but an investment.  That’s my 2 cents!

  • We watch the Dave Ramsey show every night on tv. We are are debt free, but still like his show and advice he gives to others. So glad to hear things are moving right along for you.  Blessing! Sharon

  • Check my blog for my weekend….:sunny:

Yes, dust bunnies are such a part of life:eek:

I have heard Dave R is fantastic

My fav vaccuun to get those db’s is the Orick…only 8 pounds ..it’s the kind they usually use in hotels….

  • Yes, I have been to the Traders Pt Creamery. It isn’t too far from where we live.  That would be great if you could be a part of their markets.  I will look for my tot recipe and send it to you!

  • ryc:  my Dyson is purple!!  We call it purple beastie! :heartbeat:  I have never heard of Riccar.  But I don’t think I’ll ever own anything other than a dyson now. =]

I did see your sub blinkie and I had to laugh earlier when I saw it.  You know though, I haven’t had a sub since Doug brought me that awesome one home a few weeks ago.  I think he broke me of them LOL!  I haven’t even really wanted them since.  I guess maybe I figure it can’t get any better than that one.  Now I am onto tomatoes.  More specifically tomato sauce.  spaghetti sauce with really chunky tomatoes in it. MMMmmmmm.  strange!

Hope you enjoy you sub tonight (if that’s what your getting lol)

Oh and I voted for the “friendliest” face =]

  • That’s a cool shot he got.  I still have to venture over there.  My husband wants to take me one of these days.

  • Don’t you just love the Doll?!

My church has done Dave Ramsey and they have also used it as an outreach tool.

The recipe sounds good. We had a pretty good bowl party last night.

  • P.S. I think our old church has used some of Dave Ramsey’s materials to do workshops on getting out of debt. Good stuff! :goodjob:

  • So, your husband was resuced out of one job and sent off to do another!   You have a lovely new look here! I like it. I think it is probably time I change the background on my site. Now that I am back, I have the time to look around. **I would love to see what Ian is seeing! How cool! That is a great picture! *** I am trying really hard to stay up a little longer. I am soooo tired, but I want to try to get back on Danish time as quickly as I can, so I can’t go to bed too early. I did take a nap earlier because I was crying and bumping into everything. Yeah…. I get weird when I am exhausted! I am missing my family bad, but I know things will look brighter in the morning. Most of the stuff is unpacked, and some is even put away. We were able to buy many things we needed, too. God is so good to us! People blessed us — taking us shopping and out to eat. I think I probably gained five pounds, so I have to put the brakes on all that over indulging! We rarely eat in restaurants here, and Americans eat out often, so we were able to enjoy lots of great meals in many new places as well as visiting some old favorites. Blessings, friend!

  • My Cat manages to find all our dust bunnies and carrey them on his tummy…LOL  What a sweet son you have to call you like that….Sons are such a blessing That picture he sent is really good. I Love it, the fog makes it even neater

  • btw your site looks wonderful

  • As far as vacumns go there is only one….DYSON.  I know they are pricey but they are SO WORTH IT!  I Love mine =]

Ian is having a great adventure.  and so are you with the dust bunnies.  lol

    Have a great Monday!  :sunny:

  • Gorgeous Frisco photo!  And I think I’m going to try that recipe ~ sounds really good.

  • Hi! I’m excited for you, getting to have your son home for a while.  Our son was gone on a retreat this weekend so Ed and I went and had some fun.  Had some dinners out, went  to see the movie Bucket List which is great, and went to a toy museum in Zionsville.  Ed knows the owner and helped him install some of our company’s ceiling fans in there.  It is such a neat place!  They built the whole building new, made to look like an “old” building and it really does and blends in with the other places there.  We watched the Super Bowl with family and had a lot of fun watching the Patriots lose.  :)    I have a tater cot casserole I’ve made for many years.  It’s different from yours….the tots go on the bottom with a meat/soup mixture on top with cheese and french fried onions on the top.  Have a great day!

  • Sounds like a lovely weekend. Ian seems to be having such a great time in California.

I went to my friend Shanda’s 3rd Annual Friend Valentine Party. Check out purpleamethyst76 to see the pictures. We had such a lovely time of Christian fellowship. I am very blessed.

  • :sunny:Good Morning Sweet Deborah! Wow what an adventurous weekend for Ian! That is where I get nervous!………..Afraid that the Daredevil will come out and he will get Hurt!…………I will be praying for Ian’s travels!…………Yes our church is wanting to do Dave Ramsey’s Financial series, too! I bought the book. My DH loves his advice! So we’ll see how this turns out. quote and verse

Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.
- Andrew Murray -

God often comes to us,
not in dramatic and the spectacular,
but in quiet, unexpected ways ...
In a still, small voice,
a gentle whisper,
God makes known His love.

In quietness and trust
is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15

Pleasure, possessions, power, and privilege are ultimately worthless in comparison to the indescribable
joy of knowing GOD!!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
