Uncertainty? Trust!
This is how I’ve been feeling the past few days with some things that have recently taken place here … uncertainty … not sure what tomorrow holds for our family. My mind swirling with it all. I know God has a plan, but right now we just don’t see it. Things feel different, it’s hard to explain … it’s hard waiting … but during that time we pull in close to Him … trusting. I pray you’re each encouraged as you trust Him for your ’uncertainties’ today, tomorrow … we all have them … He knows … and He holds all the tomorrows that we don’t see … aren’t you glad?! <><
UNCERTAINTY
~ Gail Rodgers
So what’s ahead of you today? Is it a routine day with a morning rush to get out the door? Is uncertainty in some area nibbling at the edge of your mind? We strive hard to maintain a measure of control in our day and in our plans. The measure of control we had hoped to have can feel shaken at times. We can feel shaken. This week a young man e-mailed from across the ocean. “I would be interested to know what you think of world events right now,” he wrote. Having three young adults myself I could read between the lines. As young people stand on the threshold of their adult lives they feel the uncertainty. As older ones raise a family and balance the mortgage and the gas prices, they feel it too. Baby boomers who planned for their retirement feel little control as they watch shifting markets.
Yet our God, who loves each of us dearly, knows we will face uncertainty in our lives. He offers encouragement and instruction through the words of the Psalms. Listen …
“I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
I have set the Lord always before me.
Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken” - Psalm 16:7, 8In order not to be shaken in uncertain times, “set the Lord always before you.” What does that mean on a Friday morning? It means bringing Him into focus as you start your day. When you get up in the morning acknowledge that, as His child, you are assured that He is right beside you. Ask His Holy Spirit to remind you that He is with you as your busy day progresses. Hold tight to His hand and ask for wisdom to deal with situations as you move through the day’s activities and the uncertainties of your tomorrow. Praise Him. He will counsel you and instruct you. He will steady you so that you will not be shaken.
Walk with Him step by step through whatever your day holds. His presence will not only enrich your ordinary steps today, but will also hold you steady through the uncertain steps of tomorrow.
Father God,
I thank You and praise You that You alone have the ability to hold me steady in uncertain times. Please help me today to set You before me in all that I do. Help me to be conscious of Your presence as I journey through my day today. Help me to be quick to call on You for the words and attitudes and wisdom that I need. When the uncertainties of my life and of our world crowd my mind today, let me lean hard on You to steady me. I praise You that because You are with me, I will not be shaken. Lead me step by step through the routine and through the unexpected. I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.

PS: I love your layout! We have two rooms in our home that have Lighthouse themes, and this would fit right in! If I could live anywhere, it would either be in the Rocky Mountains, or on a beach over looking an ocean, with a lighthouse close by!! Love the serenity!!
Thinking of you and praying for you Deborah!
May He shelter you from the storms of Life, and tuck you safely under His wings.
How is Ian????
I have a few paint brushes, rollers and lots of paint for me to stir up this weekend!
:sunny:Hi Deb,
I love your site it’s so pretty and all the ocean graphics are so pretty too. I love this devotion it really does let us know that Jesus is our foundation and how much He carry’s us. What would we do without Him?
I am so sorry Ian isn’t coming home for his BD but money is tight everywhere and it is good that he is so careful and staying on top of that. Wow those fires in California are so bad I hope he is staying quite aways from them?
I have been depressed of late please continue to keep Bob & me in your prayers. Also I will be praying for Lewis & his dad & mom that the Lord will surround them and take away all that ails them.
Be blessed dear friend….HuGs…
Linda

It looks like God is doing a new thing in your family. That’s usually what uncertainty leads to!
Step by step, trust Him and lean on Him. Past tells the story of how He is Faithful and knows what is best for us. Remember that and hold on to that hope! Our hope is Christ, the Faithful one. Hebrews 10 says something about that I think.
Lifting you up! Have a splendid evening and weekend!:goodjob:
:heartbeat: Loved your blog……… great post……… :coolman:
It is a wonderful thing to know that we have a Rock which cannot be shaken! It is important that we start each day with our focus on Him. I don’t know what people do without Him! I sure would be lost and afraid if I was not trusting in His promises.
“‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus”…and so necessary…and so difficult sometimes in my own strength — thank you for these encouraging words! RYC: your page inspired mine — but I have to ask where do you get your graphics — they are so lovely! :sunny: — Also, any word from Ian re: fire danger? Keeping all in my prayers, Laurie
It is one thing to say we trust Him and quite another when we have to run to Him and really trust Him…I am so glad that He is faithful…may we learn to trust Him more…you are in my prayers. ~Colleen~
So true, and much needed. Thanks… Happy Friday! :sunny:
:sunny:Good Morning Sweet Friend!
…….I trimmed my Cherry Blossom tree yesterday. It was so thick with new growth. I told DH that I want it taller not short and fatter
………My song went well Sunday! I am still laughing at myself. Every verse was correct, which I was worried I would forget. But at the end I had switched the last three words, it should have been; sing. dream and love…I sang; dream, love and sing:eek:………I realized it when I went to sit down….Oh well, lol……I am thinking maybe that is what God wanted.
