     AUTUMN

The time of each year that snaps us awake.
Out of the doldrums of late summers bake.

The switch that is thrown, for trees, colors to make.
And families unite for activities sake.

The chill in the morn’ being quiet refrain.
    Warm afternoons have natures disdain.

The drone of the bee in its last search for nectar.
The squirrels stock their nests as winters protector.

The smell in the air of hot cider, and burnt leaves.
Makes us rejoice in the brilliance of the trees.

The tweak on your skin by a chill in the morning.
Is all you will get of a cold winters warning.

So enjoy the crisp air, the colors, the feelings.
Of Autumns great show and its ex-cited dealings.

Reflect on this time, it is special and dear.
And oh so short to exist, as the best time of year.

Well … finally … it’s beginning to look a lot like Fall around here, isn’t it!  I love the colors of the season, but I did enjoy that ‘ocean’ blue, too!  I still have some changes I want to make, but this is definitely a start.  It’s also beginning to feel a lot like Fall here, as well.  It’s about 46* outside, and they’re prediciting thirty-something by morning.  There’s the hint of woodsmoke in the air … I just love that!  So how’s the weather in your neighborhood … and what are your plans for the weekend?  We’re just relaxing here on Saturday, and then tomorrow we’ll have a fairly full day of church.  It will be a good day.  I pray you all have a wonderful weekend … I’ll be making more rounds here today, as well.  I’ll try to get some photos posted sometime this weekend.  Hmmm, I think I may make a pot of chili, and a loaf, or two, of pumpkin bread … that sounds good on a cold day like today.  I also need to get out my winter sweaters … it looks like the chill is here to stay for awhile!  I’ll see you soon!  Blessings on your day!   Hugs ~ Deborah <><

Let the first act on waking be to place yourself, your heart, mind, faculties, your whole being, in God’s hands. Ask Him to take entire possession of you, to be the Guide of your soul, your Life, your Wisdom, your Strength. He wills that we seek him in all our needs, that we may both know Him truly, and draw closer and closer to Him; and in prayer we gain an invisible force which will triumph over seemingly hopeless difficulties.  ~ Sidney Lear

    happy birthday
To Mom Betty … We love you!

P.S.  fyi[1]  This is a real quick update … we won’t be relaxing here at home today … it’s a ‘happy day’ party0011 … hubby has already left to the antique mall to restock … and silly me, I forgot to mention that today is Mom Betty’s 81st birthday!! birthday

They are both doing pretty well … Lew goes and plays pool with Dad at the recreation center there at the assisted living home … Dad always wins!
Hubby beats me, though … all the time!    But, I am glad they are spending so much time together … making up for those ‘father & son’ years that were lost to each other.  Family is so important!  We’re looking forward to today … we’ll be having dinner out … (per Mom’s request) … at a restaurant, called ‘Chili’s', later today.  She’s been wanting to eat there for awhile, and it’s just the day to do it!

So we’ll be headed that way,
w74508601 … and it’ll be a relaxing day ‘out’ with the whole family!  It is ‘chili’ out, too … cloudy, and windy … definitely a day to dress warm … hmmm,  … now let’s see, where did I put my favorite sweater?!  But first, I’m going to go get a hot cup of tea … coffee computer  … or maybe I should make it … coffee, before I get ready to leave!  I’m a bit draggy here, late this morning!  Ever have draggy mornings?  Yep, me too!

    Warm hugs to all!

  • :sunny: I love the warmth here — though I admit, we hardly have a fall in L.A. right now — but it’s coming, I know it is! I love the Lear quote — is that from a particular book — I am not familiar with his name? I did enjoy my visit here today — enjoy your Sunday tomorrow! Blessings, Laurie

  • What a sweet sweet picture of Betty and Dad.  They look so happy.  I’ve never been to Chili’s.  Is it good?  I hope you had an excellent time!

  • That is such a wonderful picture.  I hope she has a special b-day.

  • Yes, fall is in full swing here, just finished off 6 days of beautiful indian summer. Now we are back to cold again here in Ohio. I find your site very beautiful as well! :goodjob:

  • This is very pretty. I love the fall…what little we have here in the southeast Texas area.

Let the first act on waking be to place yourself, your heart, mind, faculties, your whole being, in God’s hands.

And let the second thing be to ask God to take control of our country and its leaders, turning their hearts toward Him.

  • That is such a cute picture of them! Happy Birthday Mom Betty! My whole day has been draggy LOL! :p

  • Sounds fun!  Have a wonderful weekend.

  • What a lovely layout! I’m glad your fall has finally arrived. We have been in it for a quite awhile now, and now it definitely feels as though winter is right around the corner.

My husband will be grouting the rest of the floor today in between running some errands. I have a story at a Victorian tea today. Doesn’t that sound lovely? I wish I could take part, but $25 sounded a bit steep for a tea party. :) Tomorrow, of course will be filled with worship and rest.

  • Hi there, I came by to see how you have been. I’m sorry that I haven’t  been by in awhile. things have been crazy around here. I love you new layout!!!!:goodjob:

  • Hello, Lovely Lady! I love your new Fall look! I never know how to do much with my site other than put up a different background picture to go with the time of year. Yours is beautiful and refreshing. ~~ In Denmark today at 11 AM, it is 48 degrees, dark and raining. This is pretty much what we get all Winter. Not much sunshine. Sometimes it goes down into the 30′s and then the rain turns to ice and sleet. We don’t get much snow. Most of the leaves here are off the trees. I think the seasons “happen” quicker here. ~~ It’s a quiet morning, and I can hear my honey typing on his computer as I type on mine. ~~ Last night my cell group kids were here, and we had a good time. Doing the lesson made me cough quite a bit, though. It is the most I have talked nonstop in a long time! They surprised me with an early Christmas present — A big basket of goodies! Cookies, candies, jam, honey, cans of tuna, and a beautiful plant. I was flabberghasted and so blessed! ~~ I coughed a lot last night and finally ended sleeping sitting up in a chair. Woke up stiff and groggy. Still, the coughing is less and not so deep, so I know I am getting better. ~~ I pray you have a wonderful day and enjoy all God sends your way. Blessings and hugs from Denmark

quote and verse

Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.
- Andrew Murray -

God often comes to us,
not in dramatic and the spectacular,
but in quiet, unexpected ways ...
In a still, small voice,
a gentle whisper,
God makes known His love.

In quietness and trust
is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15

Pleasure, possessions, power, and privilege are ultimately worthless in comparison to the indescribable
joy of knowing GOD!!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
Psalm 32:8
