I’ve missed being on here, and checking in with you all!  Hope everyone’s had a blessed Christmas weekend!  The past few days, since hubby broke his ankle, have been busy, yet, really not!  Adjusting to the changes that things like this can bring into your life, isn’t always easy, but God’s grace is big!  We did have a quiet Christmas day here at home … made lots of phone calls to family, and friends.  We called Ian … had a good talk, and yes, it’s hard on us being away from him, but we need to realize that it’s hard on him, too, even though he may not say it … a mom can feel these things, and, he had multiple invites for Christmas dinner, which I’m glad of, so he wasn’t alone!  I do have hope we’ll be seeing him soon … I think he’s homesick for us, too!  Other than that, we shared a nice meal together, just the two of us, here.  We thought it best that we not go to my sister’s that day, because of the need to keep icing that ankle, and to keep it elevated!

On Friday, we did venture out to see Mom Betty, and O.P., along with the rest of the family, for a time of sharing, and a small meal together.  On the way off the porch, at home here that morning, and, three steps down, as he was trying to maneuver those crutches, well, hubby fell … thank the Lord, I was there to break that fall!  Foot was saved, and we didn’t get hurt, but, it sure scared me, though!  He needs to practice more … but we’ve been told that crutches are hard to get used to!  He also needs to wait for help!  Thankfully, we got there in one piece … it was different, because we’re usually at my sister-in-law’s house for Christmas, but now there’s some stipulation on Mom’s insurance that says she can’t leave the facility in order for them to cover her therapy sessions she’s going through.  So, we were in a banquet room there at the retirement home, instead of at Jeannie’s.  We still had a good time, and it was a beautiful room, but no one felt like they could lay down, or relax, and snooze after the meal, like they normally do at her house, so, it didn’t last as long as usual.  We said our goodbyes, and afterwards, we headed to my sister’s house for just a little while, since we didn’t see them on Christmas.  We played some cards, and had a good time just laughing together, then headed for home to more rest for hubby.

Saturday, was a day spent here at home … not much to speak of, really … fruit and coffee for breakfast … dinner was spaghetti and meat sauce, with a salad.  We watched a favorite movie of ours … Fiddler on the Roof.  A long movie that took up most of the afternoon.  Oh, and for more entertainment, I did let Pookie (the kitten) upstairs, for a short time, so she could get acquainted with Mooshie, (our cat) and they seemed to get along just fine … playing, and running from each other, but no outright attacks … he’s being very gentle with her … so far!  I’ll mainly keep her in the basement until they get totally acquainted, but we think they’ll do just fine.

Sunday, we went to church (and hubby did much better getting off our porch) … he said he couldn’t wait to see everyone, and he didn’t want to miss it … neither did I, and we’re so glad we went!  So many hugs, and people asking if they could do anything for us!  Someone even called to say they’d pick us up in their van and take us to church so I wouldn’t have to drive.  After a wonderful service, we were invited by our Pastor and his wife, along with another couple, to dinner.  We went and had a wonderful time of fellowship, and a great meal together.  While we were there, our Miss Elizabeth’s parents called us, and invited us over for the evening … of course, hubby wanted to go … so did I!  We had a wonderful time playing a game, and eating dinner together.  Tim, who is in Malawi, sent them cards and letters for Christmas, which we were blessed to read.  He is doing well, traveling there quite a bit, and is able to share the Lord with those in the villages that he’s visited.  I remember when he was 5 or 6 … he’d stand up with his Children’s Bible, and preach to us right out of it while standing on his couch!  He has such a heart for people to know the love of the Lord!  Miss Elizabeth is doing so much better now … she’s very happy that her hair is growing back … and fast!  Their daughter, Hannah, is just a precious young lady, and their younger son, Jonathon, has started a small home business to help raise funds for missions.  He’s selling a healthy vitamin supplement … gave a great presentation for it, and convinced us both!  I’d not heard of this one before, but it sounds like a great product!  It’s called, Mila – The Miracle Seed.  Well, he knew we weren’t able to pay for it right then, so he told us he had prayed with his dad, and wanted Lewis to have it to help in the healing of his ankle, so, he gave us a package of it!  He is such a sweet young man!  I love them all so much!  We’re going to miss them when they finally move back home in about three weeks … it’s about an hour and a half or so, south of us.  When we finally got home, around 11:00PM, we realized that maybe we’d been doing too much, too soon … his foot, and toes, were so much more swollen when we took off that boot cast … it looked like it was ready to pop … and it’s beginning to turn blue around the side where the break is.  I felt so bad!  We iced it good, and got him into bed for the night.

Yesterday, was spent just resting, (well, he did anyway) I’ve been giving him more TLC, and doing things he can’t readily do himself, and so, now, with our schedule totally changed, we’re just going with the flow of it all!  We were talking the other day, about how quick something like this can change, and affect so many things … how, instead of what we’re doing, God can have ‘other plans’ in mind for our lives.  It shows me that our lives truly aren’t our own, but His!  Lewis said that, when he fell, and when he was lying there in the rain, he looked up to the sky, and just smiled at God, and said, “whatever it takes Lord … you know what you’re doing … and you’ve got my attention!”  He’s waiting on the Lord, now … in patience, and faith, for Him to work out more of His purpose in his life!  I am blessed with a husband who has a heart that wants to follow hard after God.  And I see him growing even closer through all of this!  It’s exciting to see how God works in our lives – what He does in each one of our hearts … and the means He uses to do it!  It’s not always an easy road, but as I said earlier … God’s grace is BIG!

I will ask, if you would, to continue to pray for his healing, though … we’re going back to the orthopedic doctor on Wednesday for more x-rays … we’re praying that the bone hasn’t shifted … and if that would be the case, then he might have to have surgery to put pins in it, but we’re believing for better things!  And, also, speaking of better things … we weren’t sure exactly how God would provide for us through this, but we knew that He would … and on Saturday, a blessing came by way of a phone call from his insurance company.  He has workman’s comp, which he just recently got, and we found out that it will cover everything, and that it also will pay him for the days he’s off work!  Praise the Lord!  Being as he can’t drive, we just don’t know when he’ll be able to work on that ankle again, but, we’ll know more on Wednesday.  In the meantime, could you also pray about the ‘cabin fever’ he seems to be going through!  Like I said in the last post … he’s not one for being down for very long.  He’s putting the time to good use, even though it is hard, at times, to be lying around all day!  He’s sure learning more about how to ’wait’, and to …

“Be still (to be weak – to let go – to release – to surrender) … and know that I am God!”  Psalm 46:10

*Right where God wants us all to be!

Praying you all have a wonderful week … I’ll post again when I know more about his ankle, but, in the meantime, I’ve just got to do some visiting around here, catching up with all of you, seeing what prayer requests you might have, and seeing how your Christmas was!  Thank you all, again, first, for bearing with me through this long post, and second, for your thoughts and prayers for my dear husband!  I’ll leave you with a video, if you have just a few more minutes … to be still … and know … that He IS God … and that this will bring comfort to you, in whatever trial, or circumstance, you might be going through right now!

ANKLE UPDATE:  Thank you all for your prayers, and comments about my husband’s mishap … this is how it went:
Christmas Eve:  It’s was a l-o-n-g day of waiting with my hubby in the ER … many papers were filled out … x-rays were taken … then, finally, an exam … diagnosis: broken fibula of the right foot … 6 weeks to heal … 2 of which he cannot drive, or put any weight on it at all.  They sent us to an orthopedic doctor … more papers to fill out … then upon examination, and looking at the x-rays, he said it was a ‘classic’ break … (there were 22 that came through his office last week during that ice storm!) … and that we had 2 options … a boot cast, or a plaster cast … once he explained how each would work, he recommended the boot cast for him … hubby liked the idea of being able to take it off for showering, and those treatments of ice.  He’s to see the doctor in a week for more x-rays to see how things are looking … if things aren’t healing well, the doc mentioned surgery, and pins to hold it in place!  We certainly don’t want to see that happen!

We met his sister who brought his father’s walker for him to use.  We finally got home around 5:00PM … he was in quite a bit of pain, and took one pain pill and went to sleep … woke up and we shared some scripture together, a cup of tea, and watched ‘A Wonderful Life’.  We iced his ankle, ‘re-booted’, and he went back to bed … sleeping soundly.  Please pray that there will be no need for any surgery, and for his quick healing.  He doesn’t much like being out of commisssion for any length of time … and, he also has a busy schedule this next week … pray for extra help to be available for him … someone willing to drive him in his van to the jobs to oversee them … he won’t be able to physically work.  We also have 3 weekends worth of shows coming in January … please pray we have help for those … he can’t lift anything heavy for quite awhile now.  Your prayers are so very appreciated at what, I know, is most certainly a busy time for you all!  We’ll be having a quiet Christmas here at home … just the two of us.  I’ll make us a nice pot roast for dinner.  We were supposed to go to my sisters for the day, but we feel it’s best he stay off that ankle as much as possible now.  But then, depending on how he feels Friday, we’ll be going to spend some time with his family for Christmas together there at the retirement center.  It was supposed to have been at his sisters, but she’s not able to leave the home right now. I know we’d both be sad if we had to miss being together with everyone.  I’m hoping he’ll be up to it!

Midst all of this, I feel so very blessed to have you as friends here on Xanga!   I’m praying for each one of you … that you all have a wonderful Christmas Day … surrounded by the love of your family, and friends, but most importantly that you know the warmth, the joy, and the comfort of Christ, and the true blessing and miracle of His birth!

Sig Tag Christmas For Unto Us

    r_st2[1]

On a day when you have much to accomplish, and something happens to bring it all to a halt, do you ever sometimes ask God … Why?!

Well, I did this morning.  My hubby went to breakfast with one of our friends, ran a couple of errands for work, realized he forgot his cell phone here at home, and when he was walking back to his van, he fell hard, again, on some ice that was hidden under the water … it’s been raining here this morning, as the temperatures have risen, but we had sleet/ice fall last night … of course, he didn’t see the ice under that water, and when he fell, he landed right on his ankle!  He said he heard a pop, and immediately felt pain … when we looked at it, it was already very swollen, and looked a little bent too far in one direction!  We got ice on it right away, but he says the pain is getting worse, so we’re taking him to the hospital emergency room … and we are so very grateful – we called to check with his workman’s comp … it’s all covered!  Thank you Lord!   But, would you please pray that it’s only a bad sprain, and not a break!  I’ll let you know once I find out more, and we get him home!  I’m so glad we have those crutches from when Ian had sprained his ankle a few years back!

Even with all that’s been going on with us, and those around us lately, I ‘m praying that you’re all having a very wonderful Christmas week, with your family, and dear friends!  As I said, I had a busy day planned myself, to finish up some shopping, bake oodles of Christmas bread, and, I’m still not feeling quite that well … and now, my dear sweet husband (I’m praying he won’t have to wait in the emergency room too long) … so our Christmas plans, for the next couple of days, may have been postponed just a bit … they may tell him to stay off of that ankle for a few days … I remember well, the time with Ian, when he sprained his.  Lewis did fall a few days ago, after that first ice storm, and didn’t even get a scratch.  But, this time, we need to see just how bad it is.  So, finally, as to ‘why’ this has happened now … well, we’ll just have to trust, and wait on God for that answer!

Thank you all so much, again, for your prayers, (I know it’s a busy time for you all) and please do, be careful out there on that snow and ice … that is, if you have any where you are!  And to

DanishDoll … I do need to get those things that fit over his shoes, to keep him from slipping the next time!  There have been a lot of emergency room reports around here of people falling, and I think it’s a good idea for anyone of us who are ‘blessed’ enough to live in an icy area!  Praying you all have a warm, and wonderful Christmas Eve day!  Over the river and through the ‘city’, to the hospital we go ………….

UPDATE on Mom Betty, and Karen:

Thank you all so much for your prayers … first of all, Mom Betty has spent the past couple of nights in the hospital, and although the fever is down, and the rash looks much better, we are told they are not ready to release her yet.  She has a urinary tract infection, and also cellulitis, which is a potentially serious skin infection.  Lewis saw her yesterday, and she seemed to be doing much better.  We’re praying that she’ll be out for Christmas!  Lewis will be going to see her tomorrow, so I’ll have an update on her then.

To update on Karen Norton (see previous post), your prayers are still needed here!  As you know Thursday she fell on the ice, was taken to the hospital.  This is what we know so far from her son … after her examination, they found she had shattered a pelvic bone, called the ilium, (socket) which, we were told, would require extensive surgical reconstruction.  Well, on Friday, she went through a 5 hour surgery to repair the damage that was done to the area … there were no complications, and we were told the surgery was a success!  Praise the Lord!  She now has 12 screws in her hip, and some other ‘hardware’ to hold everything together, so it can heal properly.  Now, the long therapy, and recovery period, begins … they say it could take up to 5 months, with NO weight bearing for the first 4 months.  She’s to be in the hospital a week more before being released, and then from there, she’ll begin the therapy.  This special family thanks you, so much, for your prayers, and is asking that you continue to lift them up, for the needed strength, as this time of healing begins.  I’ll keep you updated as we know more.

And today … I hope this finds all of you well!  I’m still pretty sick (*sigh*) with this flu, again, so I’m not able to see either Mom Betty, or Karen, right now.  :o (   And, I so wanted to go to church this morning … there was a Christmas play, and a card exchange, but hubby said, “no way”!  I didn’t get much sleep for all the coughing I’ve been doing, and he wanted me to stay home and rest.  I’m so blessed with such a caring husband!  So, he went off to church, then I received a text from my son, saying only EARTHQUAKE.  Well, that got me moving, and I immediately turned on the news to see how bad it was, but apparently he got to me before it was reported.  I called him right away, and he said he was at church, and the building shook pretty good.  He said the epicenter was about 10 miles away, in a town called Salinas.  I haven’t heard anymore about it since he called.  Has anyone heard out there in California?!  Well, after I knew he was alright, I spent my quiet time with the Lord, on this very cold morning, and then tried sleeping some, but the coughing is keeping me from getting a good rest.  After church, my hubby brought me back many well wishes to get better, along with a glowing report of the play, and also our Christmas cards we had received from the exchange.  We sat down with a cup of tea a bit earlier, in our cozy, warm livingroom, and read each special one, and it cheered me up!  I’m hoping I’ll be better very soon, I still have a gift, or two, to get, and Christmas bread to bake for family, and friends.  Thankfully, they did change our family dinner to the day after Christmas, so that will give me an extra day to recuperate, and get those things done!   My sister is also having family over for Christmas Day, and I don’t want to miss that either … so, could you say a little prayer for me!  I know God will work all these things out!

    HAPPY WINTER

Well, if y’all don’t know it … or, feel it yet … this is the First Day of Winter!  So what’s the temperature where you live?!  We are at a ‘balmy’…  3* degrees here now … and with this wind whipping around at over 30 mph, it feels somewhere the other side of 0 over here … like -25*,  according to the weatherman!   I couldn’t see out the window earlier, for the coating of ice that had formed!  Anyone else have that trouble when it gets this cold?  The computer seems to be running very slow as well … probably frozen lines?!  I know there are some pretty frigid temperatures up north … I’m praying you all are staying warm and snug, and safe indoors!  I am concerned about our kitty, Pookie, who’s still living in our garage, and on our porch.  I’m thinking of bringing her into our basement for tonight, and tomorrow, as it’s supposed to be cold again.  We still haven’t gotten her to the vet, and I really don’t want my other cat getting fleas, or whatever else she may have!  She is so sweet, and small … and I really feel bad that she’s out there!  I did bring her in for a little while, and she stayed, contentedly, on my lap.  I do have a box fixed for her, which we covered with very warm blankets, with one inside of it for her … but someone told me she would freeze to death out there in these temps … anybody know about outdoor cats in weather like this … perhaps, SingingMom?  I’ve only had the indoor kind …. spoiled!!  Lol!!  I pray, those of you in the coldest parts of the country, are all staying warm, and cozy … the temperatures are dropping even more here tonight … I do love the cold, but this, I must say, is extreme!  There is something that will brighten your day, and make all us feel a little ‘warmer’!  We have only ……..

Christmas snowman11 One more thing … be sure to drop in over at BetsaflyGallery, if you haven’t already, and check out all the ‘snow’ photos!  I’m off for another hot bowl of chicken soup, and a nice hot cup of tea, before trying to get some much needed sleep!  Have a blessed evening, stay warm, and have a wonderful Monday!  I’ll be around to see how your Christmas week is going!  We thank you all, again, for your sweet prayers!

UPDATE WITH YET ANOTHER PRAYER REQUEST:  This one for our dear Mom Betty!
Some of you have followed my entries, and know the situation with my in-laws, Mom Betty, and O.P.  Well, we got a call from the retirement village, and she’s been taken to the hospital!  She had called her daughter, and said she had a major rash breaking out on her chest, and her daughter said that she was not sounding rational with other things she was saying, so they sent a nurse to her room, and found she had a temperature of 103*, and after being examined, decided right away, to send her to the hospital.  My sister-in-law is with her now, and my husband is on his way to be with her, as well.  I will keep you updated on her, and also on my friend *Karen > (*see prayer request below), as I hear about them both.  Right now I’m feeling pretty helpless, not being able to go see either one with this ’flu’ that I have again, but I’m praying for them both, and I thank you again, so much for your thoughts and prayers for both of these dear people!   Blessings!  <><

*Before I update, I do have an urgent prayer request … you might have heard that we have had icy weather the past couple of days … well, a sweet friend of mine, Karen, fell on that ice outside her daughter’s home today!  They rushed her to the hospital to find that she had fractured her pelvis!  They then transferred her to another hospital where her surgery will take place sometime this morning, and I would ask that you lift her up in prayer, as well as her family!  She isn’t much older than me, and is very blessed with a large family, so she is a very busy wife, and homeschool mom!  They just saw their oldest daughter married this past October … this is a photo of Karen, (second from the left) and her family below … four beautiful daughters, and two handsome sons … they are a very musical family, and are a wonderful testimony to the Lord!  This is major surgery, that requires a long recovery period, and they’re all going to need abundant grace to get through it!  Her oldest son, Michael, (second from the right) grew up with Ian, and is one of his best friends, and Ian is concerned for her … we all are, so your prayers would be coveted!  Thank you all so much!!

Well, I can’t thank you all enough, for your thoughts and prayers, and for coming by to leave your kind words about Ian’s accident.  I spoke to him yesterday, and his neck is still pretty sore, and his leg is still bruised.  We’re hoping he’ll get x-rays soon … our chiropractor told us to tell him to get them ASAP … he said that you can never know what might show up after an accident like that.  He may be able to come home after the first of the year for a visit … we’re praying!

We had a busy weekend with the show, although it was a tad bit slow … still, I’m very thankful for every bar of soap, or candle, that I sold!  I found a great buy on another teacup for my collection … I’ll do photos on those soon.  Saturday night we went to my husband’s company Christmas party, which they had for all their employees in their home.  We had a nice meal, good conversation, and she definitely loved to decorate for the holiday!  I wish I could have taken photos, but, being in their home for the first time, well, I just didn’t think that would be appropriate!  Besides all of the outdoor lights they had, indoors, we found snowmen of every type, a huge display of a Christmas village, with lights in all the little buildings, which I couldn’t quit looking at.  Kind of made me want to shrink myself and go inside!  There were snow globes sitting on every table that played Christmas music, and even her pictures on the walls had been wrapped in festive Christmas paper, each one complete with a bow!  I was looking for a Nativity scene in the midst all of it, but there wasn’t one to be found.  The ‘boss’ made a comment about my husband blessing the food, but no more was said after that.  He’s been sharing the Lord with him … he seems open, but it just takes time, and much prayer!

Sunday was very slow at the show … so we closed up a little early.  My sister, and her husband, came and helped us to load.  After being sick before, I didn’t have a whole lot of energy, and now, again, I find myself coughing, so it’s hard to sleep, and feeling achy, and tired.  I must have caught something more at the show … a lot of people were coughing there.  Me, well, when I’m sick, I stay home so I don’t spread it to others!  So now … again, I’m staying home, even though I so want to go see Karen and be with her at the hospital!  My husband has been blessed and hasn’t had any sign of a cold, or flu, even though people around him at work have it.  I’m thankful that he’s staying well … he may go ahead tomorrow, and spend some time with her husband at the hospital even if I can’t go.  I’ve been resting most of the week, and yesterday, I made some homemade chicken & rice veggie soup to help get me well for this next week!  Missing Thanksgiving with his family was bad enough, and I don’t want to miss Christmas Eve dinner with them, too!  On Christmas day, we’re supposed to be going to my sisters, and I’m going to be cooking something for both places!  Pray I feel better soon!

We’re getting more bad weather here in the form of sleet again … and I’m very thankful that my hubby wasn’t hurt yesterday morning when HE fell on the ice that had accumulated in our driveway the night before!  He salted it, but said he apparently missed a spot!  He said he landed just right, and didn’t feel any pain!  With this new storm, it could get nasty again!  Well, I do hope you’re all safe and warm … I know some places are getting snow that’s unheard of … like the desert in Las Vegas?!  It’s supposed to warm up to the 50′s here, after this latest winter storm passes!  We just never know what we may get these days … anywhere!

Be blessed, everyone, and have a great weekend!  Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers for Karen, and her precious family!  I’ll keep you updated as I hear from Michael.  In the meantime, I’ll be visiting around here this weekend, as I eat my chicken soup, and drink my hot tea!

Christmas snowman11 And before I forget … do click on over to BetsaflyGallery and see all the great ‘snow’ pictures!  I have one in there, and I need to remind everyone … before it all melts!  :o )

I received a phone call from my son Thursday night.

    He sounded concerned,
and asked me if I was sitting down …
    twice.
    I said that I was … twice
    thoughts started to swirl …
    what was wrong?

He told me he had been in a car accident that day.
I knew he was concerned as to how I would react to this news.
My breath caught in my throat,
and my heart skipped a beat.
    And I listened.

I knew, then, why the LORD had impressed it upon my heart
to pray for him earlier that day … fervently!

I asked Ian how he was … twice.
    He said, ‘okay’ … twice!

I remember what he shared with me about the accident,
every detail, and how it happened ……..

The young girl who was driving, had been text messaging on her cell phone.
She realized she had run a red light …

    Ian looked out his window,
and saw a vehicle coming right at them …

His first instinct was to turn toward the young girl driving …
to shield her body from the impact, and also the flying glass he knew was sure to come
    … and it did.

He said the impact was very hard.
Glass shattered all over them, and his glasses flew off.
His leg was pinned in until they could get the door open …
and his shoulder had been hurt.

They were both taken to the hospital … she was extremely distressed …
he was quite shaken, but he knew he needed to keep calm for her …
and on the way, he held her hand, and prayed for her in the ambulance.

Other than some bumps and bruises, they were both released.
Her parents were so grateful that Ian had been with her.
We were so grateful they were both alright!
He said it could have been worse …

but, God saw to it that it wasn’t!

Ian said he now has a ‘healthy’ fear of driving,
even though he wasn’t the one that was driving!
He likens it to having a ‘fear’ of the LORD.
He knew God had been with him, and had protected him.

    So did I!

He sent me this photo from his iPhone that he took at the scene.
I look at this, my breath catches, and tears come to my eyes.

I thank God for His Hand of protection!
I dearly love my only child!

    And … I have God’s peace,
knowing that Ian is more His, than he is mine!

This is the third time that He did, indeed, protect his life!
At least those we’ve known of … someday I may share those times!

How many times does His protecting Hand come into play that we aren’t even aware of?!
We can’t even begin to know, or count!

“He will put his angels in charge of you to protect you in all your ways”.
    Psalm 91:11

I know now that Ian will always be in the Lord’s Hands!
We, as parents, want to hold on, and try to do our own protecting, don’t we …
but I realize now, that we are to let go, and let God do the protecting!

    And … HE DOES!

So when He places someone on your heart …
    don’t wait …
PRAY for them right when you feel that prompting!

You never know who’s life might be saved …
    … but HE DOES!

    Rejoice with me!!
Praise the LORD with me that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been …
that He watched over my son that day!

    Thank you, LORD!!

    him, and delivereth them.”

  • Update and a Q & A ….

    winter barn rc

Well, I’m finally here to update over the past two weeks!  I do trust you all had a blessed Thanksgiving weekend!  I’ll be around to check in to see how you’re doing here soon.  As you know, I was sick, so I couldn’t make it to our early family Thanksgiving meal on the Sunday before.  My hubby did bring me some of the wonderful food that they had, which I was thankful for, although I wasn’t up to eating much at the time.  I had also sent along that Pumpkin Dump Cake, which was a hit with everyone there.  By the time Thanksgiving, Thursday, rolled around, I was feeling better, although still tired … we spent the day here at home together, then headed to the airport to see Tim head out to Malawi, Africa.  {*I had shared about this in a previous post.}  Well, our airport was recently rebuilt, and it was a treat to see it.  It doesn’t even compare with the older one we had … it has so much more of an open air feel to it.  It’s also easier to get in and out of … and what traveler doesn’t like that!  We were there 2 hours before his flight, so we all took a ‘tour’ around the place and had a very nice time with Tim, and his family.  We had some ‘Thanksgiving’ dinner while there … and not your traditional turkey … we had Mexican food, but it’s not the food you eat, it’s the love of the friends, and family, you’re with that makes any day a day of thanksgiving!  I did get some photos … quite a few really, and I’ll be posting some next time.  I’m posting more photos over on my Facebook account, which is where we’ll be keeping in touch with Tim while he’s away.  He flew from Indiana to Washington, D.C. that night, then to London, for a one day layover, then onto Ethiopia, and finally to ‘somewhere’ near Malawi on Saturday, or Sunday.  We just recently heard that he made it safely … communication is difficult right now, at least until we get an international phone card, which we are in the process of doing.  We’re all anxious to hear how he’s doing, and how that long trip went!  He told me he’d like to have Ian come over there for a couple of weeks before he comes back home again, so, that could be in Ian’s future.  We miss our son so much … oh, I know you’re all probably tired of hearing me say that, but what’s a mom/dad to do when their one and only son is away!  Well, we face each day with confidence that God is watching over him, and that he is using wisdom in making right choices in his life, and that he has a heart that follows hard after God!  That’s all we can do.  He did say that he might be coming home for Christmas, but is finding that any cheap tickets are scarce right now.  We’ll wait and see.  It would be so good to see him … he did say that if he can’t come Christmas, he may try to make it after the first of the year.

Moving on … the Friday just after Thanksgiving we set up at our show, and it was quite busy for the first two days … Sundays are always a bit more slow, especially when there’s a Colts football game on!  God did bless our sales, and we both did well, and made a pretty good profit.  After the show was over for the first day, on Friday, I headed home, since I was still not feeling my best.  Lewis headed to church where they were putting on a Thanksgiving meal for the men of The Jesus House … which is a place of restoration for ex-offenders who found salvation while behind bars.  It offers safety, fellowship, accountability, and time to adjust to civilian life.  A wonderful program!  There are a few other churches in our area who work with them like this, as well.  According to Lewis, there were quite a few men there … and many shared their testimonies … and he said the food was plentiful, and delicious.  All the men were blessed, and seemed to enjoy themselves very much.

Saturday, was another day at the show, and very busy.  Right after it closed for the day, we headed to a place called Frye’s Electric, to ask some questions about my computer since I’m still having problems with it.  I had bought it there, and didn’t realize that I had purchased a 5 year warranty on it!  (*sigh*)  I had spent a lot of money having ‘Cory, the Computer Guy’ fix it, so I’m going to take it to Paul at Frye’s.  He said he’d fix us right up … with almost no charge this time!  I’m hoping to get it in very soon … like Friday of this week!  I was exhausted by the time I got home that night, so I dropped into bed, until Sunday morning, when we headed out for the last day of the show.  As I said, it was slow, but that gave me a chance to look around for some bargains myself.  I found some quilts that I liked, but the lady behind me was selling them for $1200 each, and that was at half price !?!  They were very old, and she had history on each one, but that was way out of my price range … I don’t sell that much soap!  She was probably the only one who had anything priced that high!  Anyway, I did buy a little tin bowl for $4.00 which I’ll use for my soap display, and I also found 3 electric candlelights … those look so pretty in windows in the winter … actually they’re pretty anytime … very inviting.  They were brand new, and only $1.00 each!  That’s all I spent … I was frugal!  We packed up after the show, and it had begun to snow.  It was so pretty, but it did get very cold, and windy.  Little Pookie is still on our porch, and warm in her box … but now, I have a concern … we are wondering if she’s pregnant!!  Now what do I do?!!  I can’t have kittens here … my sister, who loves cats, doesn’t want that added responsibility if she is pregnant, which I can totally understand, so, I’m in a bit of a quandry!  I don’t know if Pet Smart will take her in without costing me a fortune … they do take in strays … but ones that are pregnant?!  We’ll have to check with them in the next couple of days.  I’m hoping to be able to keep her … I’ve become very attached, and so has she!  I pick her up, and she doesn’t want me to put her down, and she loves to snuggle … I should call her Snuggles!  I can’t wait to get her indoors … I’m so praying that she’s NOT pregnant!

And finally, to catch up on this past weekend … on Saturday we went to a Christmas brunch with friends, and had a great time of fellowship, and yummy food.  It was snowing, which made it even more perfect!  After the party, late afternoon, we headed to my sister’s house to spend our late Thanksgiving meal with her family.  We ate more yummy food, played cards, and had a great day all around.  Sunday, we went to church, and then to a Chinese restaurant for lunch with our ‘group’.  After that, we headed back to my sister’s house, as it was her birthday, and I wanted to spend some time with her … she is very dear to me.  And this week, I’ve been getting ready for another show on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, again!  After this weekend, we have a couple of ‘off’ weeks, and I’m going to take advantage of that!  My goal, among other things, is to get caught up here, with you all!  It’s been a very busy season … but I still love this time of year!  I also want to thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.  Now, I know this has been long, and thank you for getting down this far, but I’ve added a Q & A, which I found at a site called GotQuestions.org.  I hope it will speak to your heart, and encourage you, as it did me.  It is truly a journey we’re on … this walk of faith!  But God is faith-full!  I pray the rest of your week is abundantly blessed … and I’ll be posting photos soon … as long as my computer keeps working before I can get it in for repairs, that is!

    Question:
“Does God promise to not give us more than we can handle?”

    Answer:
I Corinthians 10:13 in the NKJV reads, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” This Scripture teaches us a powerful principle. If we belong to Him, God will not allow any difficulty to come into our lives that we are not capable of bearing.

So, anything that comes our way, anything that tempts us, any tragedy that befalls us—we are capable of overcoming it and achieving spiritual victory. That does not mean it will always be easy. Quite the contrary—the fact that we may need a “way of escape” indicates that God sometimes allows difficult trials to come into our lives. We may not believe that we can overcome it, we may doubt our own strength to prevail, and we may even fail in the temptation. That does not mean, though, that we are not capable of overcoming that particular temptation. Whether it is a temptation to sin or a temptation to doubt God, God promises that we will be able to overcome it.

But what does it mean to “overcome” trials? It means the trials do not overcome our faith or our position as children of God, and we come through the trials intact. Our eternal destiny is not in danger because we are kept by the Holy Spirit, who was given to us as a down payment on our salvation (2 Corinthians 2:21-22).  No trial can overcome that because it is of God. Therefore, the child of God will stand firm through the trials and come out on the other side still in God’s hand. This is proof that our salvation is real and our reward in heaven awaits us.  James 1:12 assures us, “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”

    AMEN!!!!!

  • Bring the Rain

I’ve missed you all, and I’ll update next time,
but God has touched my heart here tonight, and through my tears,
I wanted to share this with you.
I’ve been struggling through some things lately … a lot of things …
we find ourselves doing that from time to time, don’t we?
Maybe some of you are, right now, too.

Yes, God has His reasons for it all
    … and I am listening!
    I’m learning to
surrender to all that He brings into my life
… and to stand  in the rain,
because I know it will help me to grow and mature in Him,
and will, in the end, bring Him glory!

His presence is so sweet as I listen to this song … the words ‘fit’ for where I’m at right now …
and even though there are trials, pain, and not so pleasant circumstances,
I will draw closer to Him through these times …
He is my shelter in these storms.

How can it be that there is such a sweet peace in the midst of it all?
    Sweeter than I’ve ever known!

He will make a way, He will bring joy and peace beyond all understanding,
and they will change who I forever am in Him,
    but most of all,
He will bring to me that which brings Him all the glory!

Lord, bring me anything that brings You glory!!
Rain …. if that’s what it takes!
Praise Him with me … in the rain!

~ Jesus Bring the Rain ~

    Holy, holy, holy
    Holy, holy, holy
    Is the Lord God Almighty
    Is the Lord God Almighty

I can count a million times
    People asking me how I
Can praise You with all that I’ve gone through
    The question just amazes me
    Can circumstances possibly
Change who I forever am in You

Maybe since my life was changed
    Long before these rainy days
It’s never really ever crossed my mind
To turn my back on you, oh Lord
My only shelter from the storm
But instead I draw closer through these times

    So I pray

Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know there’ll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that’s what it takes to praise You
    Jesus, bring the rain

    I am Yours regardless of
The dark clouds that may loom above
Because You are much greater than my pain
You who made a way for me
    By suffering Your destiny
So tell me what’s a little rain

    So I pray

Bring me joy, bring me peace
Bring the chance to be free
Bring me anything that brings You glory
And I know there’ll be days
When this life brings me pain
But if that’s what it takes to praise You
    Jesus, bring the rain

    Holy, holy, holy
    Holy, holy, holy
    Is the Lord God Almighty
    Is the Lord God Almighty

quote and verse

Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.
- Andrew Murray -

God often comes to us,
not in dramatic and the spectacular,
but in quiet, unexpected ways ...
In a still, small voice,
a gentle whisper,
God makes known His love.

In quietness and trust
is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15

Pleasure, possessions, power, and privilege are ultimately worthless in comparison to the indescribable
joy of knowing GOD!!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
