I received a phone call from my son Thursday night.
He sounded concerned,
and asked me if I was sitting down … twice.
I said that I was … twice …
thoughts started to swirl …
what was wrong?
He told me he had been in a car accident that day.
I knew he was concerned as to how I would react to this news.
My breath caught in my throat,
and my heart skipped a beat.
And I listened.
I knew, then, why the LORD had impressed it upon my heart
to pray for him earlier that day … fervently!
I asked Ian how he was … twice.
He said, ‘okay’ … twice!
I remember what he shared with me about the accident,
every detail, and how it happened ……..
The young girl who was driving, had been text messaging on her cell phone.
She realized she had run a red light …
Ian looked out his window,
and saw a vehicle coming right at them …
His first instinct was to turn toward the young girl driving …
to shield her body from the impact, and also the flying glass he knew was sure to come
… and it did.
He said the impact was very hard.
Glass shattered all over them, and his glasses flew off.
His leg was pinned in until they could get the door open …
and his shoulder had been hurt.
They were both taken to the hospital … she was extremely distressed …
he was quite shaken, but he knew he needed to keep calm for her …
and on the way, he held her hand, and prayed for her in the ambulance.
Other than some bumps and bruises, they were both released.
Her parents were so grateful that Ian had been with her.
We were so grateful they were both alright!
He said it could have been worse …
but, God saw to it that it wasn’t!
Ian said he now has a ‘healthy’ fear of driving,
even though he wasn’t the one that was driving!
He likens it to having a ‘fear’ of the LORD.
He knew God had been with him, and had protected him.
So did I!
He sent me this photo from his iPhone that he took at the scene.
I look at this, my breath catches, and tears come to my eyes.
I thank God for His Hand of protection!
I dearly love my only child!
And … I have God’s peace,
knowing that Ian is more His, than he is mine!
This is the third time that He did, indeed, protect his life!
At least those we’ve known of … someday I may share those times!
How many times does His protecting Hand come into play that we aren’t even aware of?!
We can’t even begin to know, or count!
“He will put his angels in charge of you to protect you in all your ways”.
Psalm 91:11
I know now that Ian will always be in the Lord’s Hands!
We, as parents, want to hold on, and try to do our own protecting, don’t we …
but I realize now, that we are to let go, and let God do the protecting!
And … HE DOES!
So when He places someone on your heart …
don’t wait …
PRAY for them right when you feel that prompting!
You never know who’s life might be saved …
… but HE DOES!
Rejoice with me!!
Praise the LORD with me that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been …
that He watched over my son that day!
Thank you, LORD!!
“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear
him, and delivereth them.”
Psalms 34:7 KJV

quote and verse
Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.
- Andrew Murray -
God often comes to us,
not in dramatic and the spectacular,
but in quiet, unexpected ways ...
In a still, small voice,
a gentle whisper,
God makes known His love.
In quietness and trust
is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15
Pleasure, possessions, power, and privilege are ultimately worthless in comparison to the indescribable
joy of knowing GOD!!
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.

So sorry that i am so late in catching up with your post you have been through so much these last few weeks I know that God was there for Ian and this young girl when i look at the car i to know that the angel’s were there to protect them from serious injury. God has special plans for Ian and as hard as it is for him to be so far away from you and your hubby remember that where ever he is he is doing God s work and that you have given him such a great life growing up and that you have taught him to lean on God at all times what a blessing this has been for all of you. We do have to let go as a parent and let God contiune to lead are chrildren down the road that he has for each one of them. and as a mom i know how hard this can be, but i know that God will help us along the way ,God Bless you my Dear friend.
SANDY
God is good!! I know so well that feeling when you are going to be hit. We experienced the same the night before my surgery. And God was with us then. I am thankful for Ian’s safety and his care for the young girl.
RYC …you asked about the recipe for snow cream. It is very simple. Scoop up some clean fresh snow in a large bowl or pan. Then using a mixer add the snow to one can of sweetened condensed milk till the stiff cosistance of ice cream. it is yummy. But be careful to enjoy slowly as this gives you a “brain freeze” very quickly.
I do rejoice with you that it wasn’t more serious! I had a bicycle accident a few months ago due to “texting”. Learned my lesson.
Just wanted to drop by and say you have a great “snow” photo at BetsaflyGallery.
Hey Deborah
I want to ask you something about your site. How did you get so many boxes to put things in, like pictures etc?
:sunny:Hi Darlin Deb, I know your trying to catch up but you don’t have to push yourself as long as we know your safe and in Gods loving arms we are happy bloggers…lols. Thank you Jesus for protecting Ian and this girl …
I’m so sorry that you had to go through this, Deb and also, of course I’m sorry that Ian and his friend had to go through it as well but am so thankful that for the most part, both are okay. Praise the Lord!
One thing that is of comfort is that though you yourself couldn’t be there to protect him … Jesus was!
Love,
Jennelle

I am glad that they were not hurt badly. Prayer to the Lord for covering is so very important. God was on the scene. Praise God.

I love the way you put that … He loves Ian more than you….yes, PTL no one was hurt badly and that it did indeed make an impression on Ian…
We do have a law that says no texting and no hand held cell phones while driving..I had to go and buy a blue tooth … never knew how to use that thing in my ear before… but it is better than being ticketed for around $100
hugs and prayers Deb
PTL, no one was seriously hurt!! God is good!
Oh my!! Praise God for His tender protection! That girl was blessed to have someone like Ian to comfort her- hopefully she learned her lesson about texting while driving. That’s the 2nd accident I’ve heard of this week that was caused by someone texting while driving!
Rejoicing with yoU!

PTL no one got hurt badly.
Praise Jesus that Ian is ok…and praise Jesus that Ian put the girls needs ahead of his own to keep her calm and to pray for her. I also want to praise Jesus that YOU heeded the call of the Holy Spirit to pray for Ian!!!!
I am rejoicing with you!!!!!
Thank God, Thank God, Thank God! Praise the Lord! I am so grateful that our precious God protected both of them. How very, very scarey.
I’m so glad your son is ok — in CA they have actually passed a law (I think it is effective 1/1/09) that bans texting while driving! And one that prohibits hand-held cell phone conversations while driving, too. That looks nasty — but it could have been so much worse!
ooooooooh nooo not a Mustang!!! But seriousely….Thank God for his protection. God is amazing!
What an amazing story and real event. I’m so glad that Ian is okay. I can imagine your panic and also your joy. The accident could have been so much worse. What a witness he was to the family. What a lesson to learn from this too! Rejoicing with you, Deb, Love, Elisha

Sister, I am praising God with you for protecting your son from further harm! And his friend was also, for having a friend like Ian! ((((HUGS))))
Praise God they are ok!! I know how scary that is. I’ve gotten two calls from my daughter, Bethany, saying she had been in a wreck. I’m thanking God right now that they are all ok.
We give thanks right along with you for God’s protection and mercy! Whew! I am very thankful that they are both OK. When you see that car, and know that Ian was sitting right there……… whew!
Oh thank goodness he is ok! Thank you Lord.
It is so hard for a parent to be far away from their child when things like this happen. Thank goodness for a praying ma.
