ANKLE UPDATE: Thank you all for your prayers, and comments about my husband’s mishap … this is how it went:
Christmas Eve: It’s was a l-o-n-g day of waiting with my hubby in the ER … many papers were filled out … x-rays were taken … then, finally, an exam … diagnosis: broken fibula of the right foot … 6 weeks to heal … 2 of which he cannot drive, or put any weight on it at all. They sent us to an orthopedic doctor … more papers to fill out … then upon examination, and looking at the x-rays, he said it was a ‘classic’ break … (there were 22 that came through his office last week during that ice storm!) … and that we had 2 options … a boot cast, or a plaster cast … once he explained how each would work, he recommended the boot cast for him … hubby liked the idea of being able to take it off for showering, and those treatments of ice. He’s to see the doctor in a week for more x-rays to see how things are looking … if things aren’t healing well, the doc mentioned surgery, and pins to hold it in place! We certainly don’t want to see that happen! We met his sister who brought his father’s walker for him to use. We finally got home around 5:00PM … he was in quite a bit of pain, and took one pain pill and went to sleep … woke up and we shared some scripture together, a cup of tea, and watched ‘A Wonderful Life’. We iced his ankle, ‘re-booted’, and he went back to bed … sleeping soundly. Please pray that there will be no need for any surgery, and for his quick healing. He doesn’t much like being out of commisssion for any length of time … and, he also has a busy schedule this next week … pray for extra help to be available for him … someone willing to drive him in his van to the jobs to oversee them … he won’t be able to physically work. We also have 3 weekends worth of shows coming in January … please pray we have help for those … he can’t lift anything heavy for quite awhile now. Your prayers are so very appreciated at what, I know, is most certainly a busy time for you all! We’ll be having a quiet Christmas here at home … just the two of us. I’ll make us a nice pot roast for dinner. We were supposed to go to my sisters for the day, but we feel it’s best he stay off that ankle as much as possible now. But then, depending on how he feels Friday, we’ll be going to spend some time with his family for Christmas together there at the retirement center. It was supposed to have been at his sisters, but she’s not able to leave the home right now. I know we’d both be sad if we had to miss being together with everyone. I’m hoping he’ll be up to it!
Midst all of this, I feel so very blessed to have you as friends here on Xanga! I’m praying for each one of you … that you all have a wonderful Christmas Day … surrounded by the love of your family, and friends, but most importantly that you know the warmth, the joy, and the comfort of Christ, and the true blessing and miracle of His birth!Love & Hugs,
~ Deborah <><
On a day when you have much to accomplish, and something happens to bring it all to a halt, do you ever sometimes ask God … Why?!
Well, I did this morning. My hubby went to breakfast with one of our friends, ran a couple of errands for work, realized he forgot his cell phone here at home, and when he was walking back to his van, he fell hard, again, on some ice that was hidden under the water … it’s been raining here this morning, as the temperatures have risen, but we had sleet/ice fall last night … of course, he didn’t see the ice under that water, and when he fell, he landed right on his ankle! He said he heard a pop, and immediately felt pain … when we looked at it, it was already very swollen, and looked a little bent too far in one direction! We got ice on it right away, but he says the pain is getting worse, so we’re taking him to the hospital emergency room … and we are so very grateful – we called to check with his workman’s comp … it’s all covered! Thank you Lord! But, would you please pray that it’s only a bad sprain, and not a break! I’ll let you know once I find out more, and we get him home! I’m so glad we have those crutches from when Ian had sprained his ankle a few years back!
Even with all that’s been going on with us, and those around us lately, I ‘m praying that you’re all having a very wonderful Christmas week, with your family, and dear friends! As I said, I had a busy day planned myself, to finish up some shopping, bake oodles of Christmas bread, and, I’m still not feeling quite that well … and now, my dear sweet husband (I’m praying he won’t have to wait in the emergency room too long) … so our Christmas plans, for the next couple of days, may have been postponed just a bit … they may tell him to stay off of that ankle for a few days … I remember well, the time with Ian, when he sprained his. Lewis did fall a few days ago, after that first ice storm, and didn’t even get a scratch. But, this time, we need to see just how bad it is. So, finally, as to ‘why’ this has happened now … well, we’ll just have to trust, and wait on God for that answer!
Thank you all so much, again, for your prayers, (I know it’s a busy time for you all) and please do, be careful out there on that snow and ice … that is, if you have any where you are! And to DanishDoll … I do need to get those things that fit over his shoes, to keep him from slipping the next time! There have been a lot of emergency room reports around here of people falling, and I think it’s a good idea for anyone of us who are ‘blessed’ enough to live in an icy area! Praying you all have a warm, and wonderful Christmas Eve day! Over the river and through the ‘city’, to the hospital we go ………….
Love & hugs ~ Deborah <><

I get afraid of slipping on ice, a man at my husbands work slipped on the ice and went down, he hit his head, got back up and went on with his day. 2 days later he died from a clot in his brain from the fall
We all couldent believe it. Your husband is blessed to have you for a wife, someone so careing and good to him
I prayed……for a quick healing and lots of blessings and help for him
Oh bless his heart. I broke my foot several years back and they put a boot cast on mine so that i could take a shower but they told me if it didnt look like it was healing right in a couple of weeks then they would put the old fashion cast on it. but luckly it was healing good and havent really had any problems with it since. In SE Georgia we dont see alot of ice on the ground some frost maybe but that is about all. My prayers are with you dear… And have a safe and Happy New Year..
Hugs
Angel

I was sure hoping it wasn’t a break. My daughter was in the boot for many months. But she also had 2 plaster casts in the last year. The boot is more comfortable. Praying now for him.

Praying for you too….it is hard for you too and I know you worry just like the rest of us wives….have a blessed Christmas day today…
what ^they^ said!
i feel it a bit presumptuous to answer your question addressed to God, but when i find myself asking that sort of question, i usually figure out later that i really needed to slow down & refocus…
I’m so sorry that Lewis broke his ankle. I will be praying for a fast healing and for his pain to cease. So glad he can be home with you. It will be good to be together.
God bless you both,
Charlene
Take care in this nasty icy weather! I hope that the ankle will heal well, and that the pain will lessen quickly! Have a nice, quiet Christmas, and enjoy each other!
Merry Christmas! Praying for quick healing of that ankle! I didn’t think the ‘pop’ was a good sound to hear.
I’m sorry to hear that the ankle was actually broken. We just found out that a friend of ours needs to have his foot and lower half of his leg removed, tomorrow, due to an infection. Tell hubby to extra good care of that ankle!!
Merry Christmas!
Deborah

Thanks for the update! I’m so sorry it happened, but it sounds like it was a nice, clean break, and we will pray it heals quickly and well. I’m glad he didn’t break his back or do anything worse to himself! Still, not the best Christmas “present” is it? Blessings to you both. Hugs!
Oh dear! I am so sorry your hubby took a tumble. I do pray his ankle isn’t broken. I’ll bet it really HURTS! I also pray you will not worry about what doesn’t get done. Will it matter a week from now? Don’t let stress rob you of the joy of the season! we just got back from celebrating Christmas with our Danish “kids.” Here in Denmark we do it on Christmas Eve. We had a nice time, ate to much, laughed a lot, and just enjoyed the love and the fun. Now I am really tired and want to get to bed before too long. Blessings and hugs!
Praying for Lew and You! Hope you have a Very Blessed Holy Day!………In Christ’s Love…….Monic
Praying for ease of pain and healing! I also wish you a more peaceful Christmas day :sunny:
Oh, I am so sorry this has happened! I’m too familiar with anke problems, since our daughter fell Oct 31, 2007. She ruptured a tendon and had a stress fracture. It required surgery and she is still recovering from it. I hope his is not that serious, but if it does not get better in a few weeks, go for an MRI. We did not know her tendon was ruptured till Feb. when a different doctor did the MRI.
Merry Christmas to you and your family! I pray it is filled with Jesus.
Hope the healing is quick and the time is given to God’s glory!
eek! hope his ankle is okay!
Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas (even with the injuries!)
Oh no! I hope it heals well and soon! Merry Christmas to you, my friend!
Praying dear Deborah…praying! Merry, Merry Christmas…best laid plans. Blessings and love, Jill
…a man plans his way but God orders his steps….. Sorry about the accident and hoping along with you that it is not broken…enjoy your celebration of Christ’s birth come what may!
