I want to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers about our church! We went Sunday and things are drying out quite nicely with ALL that equipment they have in there! It’s amazing what they have to do to clean up such a mess! The Lord has indeed blessed through it all … the church has needed new carpet for a few years, and now since this has happened, we found out that the insurance will be paying for it all! My hubby, being in the business, is getting together with one of the men from the church to discuss ‘flooring’ questions. Many were missing on Sunday, due to a 24 hour stomach bug! I’m so thankful that didin’t come around our way! After church we did go down to the show where we were to have set up … Lewis sat in a booth with some friends we know, and I walked around, and picked up a few inexpensive treasures … a small wooden candlelight lamp, candles, and, there was a family who was selling Christian books, etc., from a bookstore that had recently gone out of business in the area. The books were $1.50 each, and if you bought 5, or more, they were only $1.00 each! Mind you, these were all brand new! I bought 9 books! As if I needed anymore!! My walls are crawling with them now … oh, but I just couldn’t resist!
After we left the show, we stopped and had a bite at Bob Evans Restaurant. For those of you who don’t have them, you don’t know what you’re missing! It’s such a ‘homey’ place to eat, with great service! *A highlight of my Sunday … most of you know that our son just went back to California after a visit here over New Years. Well, he was on my heart, and I was missing him some on Sunday. When we got home, I realized I had left my cell phone at home, and found a text from him, thanking me for being the ‘best mom ever’ … and that ‘he knew he hadn’t told me that in a while’! Well, I tell ya, my heart was blessed to overflowing! That text will stay forever saved in my messages on my phone, and whenever I think of him, I’ll just pull that up …. and smile!
Yesterday, I must admit to being ‘lazy’! Oh, I did do a few things, but I’m still not at 100% since being sick, so it was a day to enjoy the warmth of my home, and just relax. We did go to the airport, last night, to see a friend off after being here this week for a visit. It’s always so much fun to see our new airport. Her flight was headed right into Washington, DC, where she switched planes … can you even imagine, with what’s taking place there today, how busy the airport would have been last night?! After that, we headed home, and out of this cold weather … it was about 14*, with snow flurries, so we got in where it was warm, and had hot steaming mugs of cocoa, and played a game of Backgammon … and yes, he won … again! *(sigh)* I just can’t win for losing! Lol!! I also received another text from Ian last night, and not one that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside … “4 earthquakes in one hour – be praying”. He said it came over a site where he gets earthquake alerts on his computer … I also chatted with him on Facebook, and he said they were centered about 20 miles inland, near Hollister … and they had increased in intensity from 2.7 to 3.8. He said some of his friends felt it … so to my Xanga friends out in California … if you know any more about this, do let me know!
Today, I’m going to go through some of my older books … see what I don’t want to hang onto any longer … I need to make room for those new ones I just bought! I wish I knew how to set up, and use EBay! I could make a fortune selling all my ‘clutter’! Later tonight, Lewis will be getting back to doing his prison ministry. He’s missed that the past few weeks. He’s doing quite well on that foot, too … although, he’s still limping a little, but I’m amazed at how quickly it’s healing! Thank you, Lord! I hope you all have a blessed day … stay warm! I’ll be around, and doing some more visiting this week.Warm hugs to you all! ~ Deborah <><
Oh, and just one more thing …. it’s been awhile since I’ve entered, and I did this time, so if you get a chance, do visit the photo contest over at iliveinmycamera, and vote for your favorite picture.
Thank you!!

PS: RYC: (I didn’t want to take any chances of posting this reply over at my photo comment section and get cut off while talking, lol!) But I wanted to thank you for the compliment on my woodsy layout. Yes I love it too! It’s actually the very first theme I ever picked…and I love it! As I also love yours – your whole layout is so warm, cozy, and just adorable. I am kind of new to this whole Xanga and blogging thing (but I think I am picking up pretty fast LOL) (it would also be alot easier if that comment eating goblin would stay away!) so I don’t have alot of “whistles and bells” at my site. Just plain jane stuff. I want very much to learn how to design my own theme and do all that nifty “re-mixing” stuff…sounds like alot of fun! Some day when I don’t have a lot pressing on my mind, and I can relax and just dawdle, I think I shall try my hand at an original theme. LOL it may turn out to be a disaster…but that’s what saved themes are for.
Blessings back to you, Deborah! Hope you’re enjoying a cozy evening and staying warm while the cold rages outside around us. I loved Singing Moms sunshine she sent ya – those Texans are so warmhearted, you know! :heartbeat:
That text message would have made me cry
Since it’s so cold there, here’s some sunshine to warm you up: :sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny:
:wave:Haven’t said hello to you for awhile! I hope that you are feeling really well soon. Glad that the visit with Ian went well. I was walkiing a little in the snow today and took a few photos so will post them later this week. Have a good week!Love From Ana
Deborah,
I’m glad the cleanup is going well. Thank goodness for insurance!
I remember all too well those earthquakes. You do get used to them after a while.
God bless you!
Gina
How wonderful of the Lord to work it out so that the insurance pays for the new carpet…indeed the kings heart is in the hand of the Lord…as the rivers of water, He turns it whithersoever He wills…yay Lord, thank you so much!
Aw, thanks for sharing about your sons text message to you ~ that too is a sweet blessing. I save my mamas messages alot of times, like your saving his. :heartbeat:
Books! Cocoa! You are so a lady after my own heart. :sunny: (I too am a book worm, a long time treasure trove hunter and book hearted individual…ah, my heart picks up speed to think of you digging through books to take home. To add to your already belovedly blessed collection!)
Yum ~ Bob Evans! I’d like a sunshine skillet please. :)
…thanks for the update – have a most blessed rest of this evening and week to follow! God continue to be with you! Hugs, cocoa and chai, and a good ole’ well worn book….Cookie:heartbeat:
Your background and music are so soothing. Glad the church is drying out! My son is going back to CA on Sat and I am already starting to feel a little heartache. But I know he has a lot to look forward to this semester. Maybe we can go see him half way through. Hope so, and I hope you son will do fine, and no more earthquakes! Stay warm.
Earthquakes of 3-4 magnitude are felt, but rarely do any damage. Four in an hour is rare, but not unheard of — they call it a swarm of quakes. Hollister is a very shaky area, but usually small quakes – last summer (early July, I think), I posted photos of a mission not far from Hollister — right next to the mission was a 20 ft drop that was caused by an earthquake in the early 1800′s.
Im sorry the church flooded
But what a great bunch of people to be helpful
Im so glad your getting better and better. I do like Bob Evans too, I just havent been there for a long time….maybe soon we should. I remember loving there rolls
I will be praying about those earthquakes. I know what you mean.. that’s not the kind of message you want to read from your son! I’m glad Lewis is doing well, and what wonderful news that the church will get new carpeting with the insurance! YAY! Busy so I can’t blab long like usual! LOVE YOU!
