    Weaving Lace

    “I will give you the treasures of darkness.”
    {Isaiah 45:3}

    In the famous lace shops of Brussels,
    there are special rooms devoted to the spinning of the world’s finest lace,
    all with the most delicate patterns.
    The rooms are kept completely in the dark,
    except for the light that falls directly on the developing pattern,
    from one very small window.
    Only one person sits in each small room,
    where the narrow rays of light fall upon the threads he is weaving,
    for lace is always most beautifully and delicately woven
    when the weaver himself is in the dark,
    with only his work in the light.

    Sometimes the darkness in our lives is worse,
    because we cannot even see the web we are weaving or understand what we are doing.
    Therefore we are unable to see any beauty or any possible good arising from our experience.
    Yet if we are faithful to forge ahead and “if we do not give up” {Gal. 6:9},
    someday we will know that the most exquisite work of our our lives
    was done during those days when it was the darkest.

    If you seem to be living in deep darkness
    because God is working in strange and mysterious ways,
    do not be afraid.
    Simply go forward in faith and in love, never doubting Him.
    He is watching and will bring goodness and beauty from all of you pain and tears.

    The shuttles of His purpose move
    To carry out His own design;
    Seek not too soon to disapprove
    His work, nor yet assign
    Dark motive, when, with silent tread,
    You view some somber fold;
    For lo, within each darker thread
    There twines a thread of gold.

    Spin cheerfully,
    Not tearfully,
    He knows the way you plod;
    Spin carefully,
    Spin prayerfully,
    But leave the thread with God.

  • Good stuff!  Hope your week has been good. :sunny:

  • That’s a pretty picture.  Glad your friend is doing better…I guess I am late getting around here!  Did you get through the wind storm ok?  Our power went out last night for several hours.. Other than that I don’t think we have any damage.  Ed spent the time bailing water from the sump pump in the basement so it wouldn’t flood!  The water just kept re-filling over and over…so much rain and water out here.  Now I think he is motivated to get an emergency sump pump, which we almost bought a few years ago then didn’t.  Lucky that we were home I guess!  I lit some candles and read a book and it was very peaceful.  Today I have so much work to do and having trouble getting motivated.

  •                       Right back at ya!!

  • :sunny:Oh Deb, I love this story and have never heard of that before. But, I do know that my time spent in darkness praying to my Lord is special and the closeness is maraculas. And I have felt Him more during the darkest times in my life. His presence is always special but for me those times are more special. Thanks.

    ryc: I am so glad you like the perculator and I am happy that you enjoy it. I pray all is going well with you & Lewis.

  • :sunny:Good Morning Sweet Friend! Hope you have a Wonderful Day!………..Love the post…….to be careful as we spin our day in life……….How true, I was talking to one of the Gals at work, who works in a diffirent department, and she was having some problems with a set of circumstances that had came up just recently with the Guy she is dating. (He works in my department, and I mentioned to him she was ineterested, so now they are a couple)……..I told her I would pray and explain how sometimes that is the way of life for some older people and I guess she listened. Out of the blue yesterday He came to me and thanked me for my advise to her and they are working through these circumstances.I explained to him that I know that back when I was engaged to my Hubby my own Mother had some adjusting to do with the whole thing, so my advice was based on my experience and of course God…………Hope you have a Wonderful Day!………I am going to get Beauty tonight! I am so excited like a kid at Christmas!…………lol……..In Christ’s Love……Monic :heartbeat::love::heartbeat::wave:

  • WOW! I never knew that about lace! I WANT to leave a nice, long comment here, but I am feeling very guilty about how much time I have already spent on Xanga this morning. SIGH….. I have to get going with other stuff. Anyway, I am thinking of you, and thanking God for our friendship. I pray that more work will come Lewis’ way and I hope your sale goes GREAT! Thanks for the updates on Bruce. Hope he will be experiencing less pain with every passing day! Love you! :love:

quote and verse

Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.
- Andrew Murray -

God often comes to us,
not in dramatic and the spectacular,
but in quiet, unexpected ways ...
In a still, small voice,
a gentle whisper,
God makes known His love.

In quietness and trust
is your strength.
Isaiah 30:15

Pleasure, possessions, power, and privilege are ultimately worthless in comparison to the indescribable
joy of knowing GOD!!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him,
and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye.
Psalm 32:8
